Hi All

I am so scared and please need some help

I dont know where to start, I am loosing this, went to A&E for 3 hours in the nights, Docs today and they wont even check me over, I am Scared so scared, I am even checking myself to make sure I am alive - now mad is that?? If I dont die (as Im sure is going to happen) then I am sure I will go mad, I have had what feeling like a 4days none stop panic attack with no break, never been this bad so must be something more, I dont feel im here anymore, feel like im watching in on my family from miles away, nothing is real, my head is hot, my hands are numb, every part of me is strange, I dont sleep, I cant walk around in fear I faint, a conversation is just too much for me, how can this just be anxiety, I am sure I am going to end up not knowing what I am doing and this scares me so bad, my family and friends have drifted away,
I want to take back control of me, anyone who can help me I would be so grateful, have I gone to far?
Please help
Wendyxx

Hi Wendy,
So sorry you feel so frightened, If the doctors and A and E thought there was even the slighest chance you had something 'seriously' wrong with you, they would not dismiss you! Everything you describe are classic panic/anxiety symptoms, you will not die from them, the more you scare yourself the worse they become, it is a vicious circle, try to distract yourself and convince yourself that if the doctors think you are ok, they are right. A nice bath, some gentle music, a little tv to watch, anything to take your mind off of the awful symptoms. You won't faint, make sure you eat something and drink lots of water, chat to family/friends, do anything you can to try not to think of how awful this anxiety is, cos that is what it is, anxiety, not heart attack, stoke, anything sinister. take care, try to relax (very hard to do) and keep in touch.

Have the doctors given you any reassurance mate that feeling this way is anxiety and panic.

Any medication to help you through this acute stage???

I can assure you that you do come out the other end but it's bl**dy unpleasent while it's happening.

Do you feel you could go into the chatroom later on as that can be a distraction (although I think it has been a bit quiet in there I think of late).

Big hug
