Hi guys,

I've had this constant light headed feeling for 4 weeks now..some days it's not so bad, but it's come on full force this evening..it's really getting me down and upset, and worrying that it will never go right. I'm just waiting on blood test results..I'm getting this throbbing on my left temple too..thats only new for the past week.

I'm really worried it could be something serious. I had the same thing last year and it went away, this time it's sticking round a lot longer. Last year it seemed to be my ears, they syringed them and it helped. Made no difference this time..

If you had a constant light headed feeling, how long did your spells last, and did it eventually go away?

Would love some reassurance. I am trying hard to chill..

Thanks

Carl

During the height of my anxiety I had a constant lightheadedness and off balance feeling-made all the worse by then feeling more and more anxious about that! In my experience it was just anxiety (and sometimes migraines). I suppose it could be a vitamin or mineral deficiency either but the blood test will pick that up obviously :)

Thanks for getting back to me :)

How long did it take for yours to go away?

Looks like I will have to tough it out and wait for the results! It's weird, but I hope something shows..nothing fatal obviously! Just something I can control. Ironically I stopped taking all my supplements after I got my eye floaters..could it be so simple that I'm lacking a certain vitamin? The lightheaded came on after the floaters. Strange..some days are a bit better than others..your right, worrying about it makes it much worse..its just so hard to focus when I go outside in the busy rat race world!

i know how you feel :( ive been so upset all evening......at 8.15pm while i was sitting on the couch with my son who was filling in a job applicatin i just got this very sudden lightheaded, floaty feeling and at the same time a slight tightness over my head. I tried to ignore it and sat up straight and tried to concentrate hard on telling myself it was ok, i was ok and it would pass......it didnt and after 2 minuted i fled up the stairs to my bedroom in tears and the grip of panic struck me again.
I spent the next 3 hours on the phone sobbing to my sister, who bless her managed to distract me and talk to me until it went away.
Im still very worried and as ive freaked out about being alone again my sis is going to come to work with me tomorrow as i told her i couldnt go (im a delivery driver)

I feel constantely lightheaded, like ive had a few drinks but ive not touched a drop. I feel like im walking slightly to the left all the time.....if i move my head quickly sometimes it feels like it takes my eyes a second to catch up with my head, it frightens me so much, the doctor said it was anxiety, i cant understand how anxiety could do this to me. I am going back asap, i cant take it anymore :(

Yeah it's just weird, I mean what causes it? If it is anxiety, then why sometimes is it stronger that times? I wasn't even anxious last night, my day wasn't too bad..but it came over like a wave at night. I'm so tired lately too, I really should have a week of going to bed an hour earlier, but I spend the time darting on here looking for advice/solution. It's like i've lost grasp on reality sometimes, it's like being drunk without the booze! I hate going out into public places, I try to force myself but it's hard.

Edit - Have you both had any tests done, are the docs doing anything?

hi carlos,
after a half decent sleep i feel a bit better today, but still dreading work in half an hours time. I have made a appointment for monday too see a doctor again.
The doc i am going to see told me about a year ago that when you feel dizzy - when like the room is spinning its the inner ear. I am going to ask what test can be done to confirm this inner ear thing as i really cant handle this for much longer.
I agree 100% its like being drunk without the booze!!!! In fact i couldve written your last post word for word as its exactly how i am too.
Hope you feel better today x

Let me know how you get on. I'm going to mention that too when I next go back to the doctors..my family and friends think it's all in my head. The last few weeks have been hell.

How long have you have your light headed feeling?

Good luck with work. I still feel bad, just went out for a run, bad idea. My eye floaters are so bad today too. I just pray it's nothing serious, I've never felt so unwell.

Take care

Carl x

Hi I too suffer with the exact same symptoms and been to the doctors today he took one look in my ear and said i had a ear infection that does make you feel that way but that also anxiety can give you theses feelings too so he gave me some antibiotics and told me about trying some deep breathing next time it happens. Also he said about even things like not eating enough can make you light headed and with suffering with anxiety that little normal lightheaded feeling can be made 10 times worse with the panic that comes along with it.

Hi. They have looked in my ears, syringed them as they had bad wax in (eww), I do suffer with build up each ear. I had the same ear problem last year but it went away, this time the lightheaded feeling is staying round much longer. I even went to a chinese herbal shop, lol..I'm trying some pills..doubt they will work but you never know. I've got the docs next week, if blood tests are all fine. I will probably ask for a an MRI scan, can they detect ear problems with that? Like fluid in the inner ear? How much can the doctor see looking in your ear, are the pretty good at spotting problems?

With anxiety you tend to shallow breath / hyperventilate and this upsets the Ph balance of your blood making you feel weird and light headed. To overcome this practice abdominal breathing for 15mins 2-3 times a day. Google abdominal breathing exercises for info on how to do this.

Thanks, I will give it a go, but my breathing is ok I think. Blood tests have come back as normal, just found out. Seeing the doc tomorrow to hopefully get seen by an ENT specialist.
