Me too. I had flu 3 years ago and it's never been right since. I had to sleep sitting up for over a year because if i laid down I would be retching and sik with it every morning.
Now mines worse if i cry (which is alot recently), even if i just sob for a few minutes i'll get a huge build up and get sik.
A cup of tea helps though, as it loosens it.

Did you doctor not give you a nasal spray for it?

I have post nasal drip every single day, it drives me nuts, i think i have an allergy to something though, i've had sprays and all sorts and nothing gets rid of it, so i know how you feel.

HI, Im new to this forum, but have been taking 10mg of citalopram for just over 3 weeks now, and at the weekend I felt great, back to my old self and then yesterday and today feel awful. I'm suffering badly with indegestion and what feels like palpatations but my doctor just says its all anxiety related. Im thinking I should maybe increase my dose to 15mg and then 20mg?

Im not sure if the indegestion is caused by post nasal drip (I am seeing an ENT specialist next week)? Does anyone else suffer with this?

I told my GP about it but she didn't say anything or suggest anything, just was shocked that I sat up every night to go to sleep.
The pharmacist gave me Sudafed, but another GP told me that doctors don't like suafed as it makes things worse.

The above poster is correct - oral contraceptives can initiate post nasal drip.

The main reason why it's so bad in the morning is... dust! Even a 'mild' dust allergy will be triggered by multiple hours of sleeping on a dust mite filled pillow. There are other reasons, including the relaxing of the eustachian tube, but these are all very common, and other than being very annoying, are not medically significant.

Post-nasal drip can be a real pain, but nasal sprays can help relieve it. I get it lots myself and seem to spend most of the winter "snotty". Beclomethasone nasal spray can be bought over the counter from the chemist's, as it's a hayfever preparation. Good prescription ones are flixamethasone and mometasone (I've had both of these in the past). they will clear it up, but it can take a couple of weeks.

Hello Blue Angel,
My Nose drip is a constant nuisance. I have have had nose sprays in the past but they have not worked.I cannot remember the names of them but I will try the one you mentioned it does not strike a bell.
I take 75mg asprin a day.I read somewhere a bit back that this is the course of my runny nose, but my gp said not.
It is embarrassing I have always got a hanky at hand.
Good topic Thank you

i have bad post nasal drip that has cleared up a lot due to a neti pot!

i hadn't thought of the pill causing it. i have had it for over a year. mine gives me a stuffy nose but runs constantly down the back of my throat. i have bad environmental allergies though.

it's a pain in the

I've read somewhere that post nasal drip can be something that starts in menopause... which is when mine began... I sometimes feel like I'm going to choke or suffocate it's so bad :(

Indegestion can be caused by anxiety so my dr says . I get it all the time since November . I,m on 20 mg of citralapram , i believe 10 mg is a very low dose perhaps you need the 20 mg .

hi laura,

i would really recommend a neti pot. it has stopped my nasal drip from choking me every day to just being a bit of an annoyance.

you can get them online from amazon, i have a blue plastic one from neil med. bit of a strange sensation at first but i love it and it really helps!!

Amazing!!! Yay so glad you ordered one. I use mine in the morning and evening. I would say I started to notice a difference in a week, and I really notice say if I have been out all day and feel all stuffed up, when I come and use it I feel lovely again!

I would say I didn't realise when it got SO much better, if that makes sense, I just suddenly thought, wow, the choking has gone!! If i ever am suffering at home I'll use it an extra time and it relieves it immediately. I've also started sleeping on a lot more pillows which helps too! :)

I really really hope it helps you like it has me. You'll find you can spit out (sorry) a lot more of the gunk too after you have used it, makes everything a lot thinner, yay.

Hi Amber

Whoo hoo I shall be using it twice a day then. I find it quite difficult to get my head at the right angle though - suppose that takes time. Thank you for the reccomedation, I am quite excited!

Loads of love

It does take a bit of time - there are actually some videos of youtube of people using it!! I would say the more you tip your head forward the better, and keep your mouth open - my partner always catches me doing it, attractive! hehe.

let me know how you get on, keeping my fingers crossed for you!!
lots of love xxx
