Hi all
Just found this fantastic website, can't believe how many people suffer with anxiety etc. Got mine after having my daughter over 4 years ago, started with breathing problems and racing heart now I've got the awful lump in my throat and problems swallowing. Went on line when I could feel a really bad attack coming on and feel so much better now, really makes realise your not alone in this! It is real therapy!
Can go to bed now and not have to sit up all night worrying that I'm going to have a heart attack or randomly stop breathing and start trying to get it into my head that the lump in my throat is stress and NOT cancer.

Thanks for the reply Karen. Have just had a look at those links after waking up still feeling very anxious. The last one was very useful. This website is a huge help.

Hi Caroline, Welcome to the forum, you will get loads of help and support here. My anxiety also started after giving birth to my son in 2000 and I suffered the same symptoms and became obsessed with my health. I too had the lump in my throat and difficulty swallowing and eventually convinced the doctor to send me to an ENT specialist where I had a camera down my throat which was awful but it helped to put my mind at rest that i didn't have throat cancer. I still get the same thing when I am particularly anxious and the doctor explained that it is was something called Globus. My Mum had the same thing too when she thought she had ovarian cancer which turned out to be fibroids. It is amazing what symptoms your body produces due to anxiety but you will find that most people on this site have health worries and it is more common than you think.
Take care

Thanks all of you for the kind words and support. I'ts such a relief to know I'm not the only one feeling like this and I'm not going mad! The doctor has talked about me having the camera down the throat as well Lisa, tried with the camera down the nose which was horrible but they couldn't get it to go in right! Three doctors have told me now that the lump in my throat is down to anxiety, and stress from loosing my mum to cancer a short while ago. Really should believe what the doctors say, but when it's late at night your mind still convinces you otherwise! Thanks all once again I can't believe I never found this website before it has been a life saver these last two nights and has stopped me having full blown panic attacks twice!
