Aww thanks everyone - I wasn't expecting this.

My nan has been in hospital since last Tuesday very poorly and the hospital called today to say we needed to go in right away.

When we left this evening she was comfortable but very sleepy. They have withdrawn all treatment as it would be too traumatic for her so they are just keeping her pain free and comfortable.

I have been visiting her every day since she went in and it has been very draining and upsetting as she is in the same hospital, same ward and same bay I was in and it has bad memories for me - but I had to be there for her.

She is 95 now and is ready to leave us bless her.

We are just taking each day as it comes at the moment.

I appreciate all the wishes. Thank You.

I lost a good friend of a similar age in the past week. I knew her a long time and she was a lovely woman. It doesn't matter how old someone is because a lovely person will always be missed and of course it is very upsetting. I am also gradually losing my mother now so I can certainly understand how traumatic a time it is for you dear Nic. I'm thinking of you all and sending you all my love.:bighug1:

Aw big hugs lovely, i kind of know what you are going through my nan went into hospital xmas day and it really looked like she wasnt going to make it after having yet another heart attack and various other problems - she only came homw 2 weeks ago and we visited almost everyday and it is so wearing and draining! So you have my full support.

I hope she is as comfortable as possible and well done you for being a tower of strength throughout it all. xxxxxxxxxxxx

We have been to the hospital again today but nan is not really with us anymore if that makes sense.

Her eyes are glazed over and she is breathing very rapidly. She hasn't moved at all today or woken up.

Sat with her for a few hours but I had to come home cos I am now starting to feel quite poorly with the stress of it all.

Thanks for all the hugs people have sent.

I just got a call from the hospital and Nanna has passed away.

All the family have seen her over the last few days and I am sure she knew that we were all there for her.

She had a good life and not many people live to 95.

She will sleep in peace now.

So sorry to hear about your nana, Nic. My Aunt drifted away from us last week. It's been a really stressful time with the funeral to arrange. I made sure that it was a celebration of her life and though I am sad, I am relieved she is released from her suffering now. I hope you have many happy memories to remember your nana by.

Dont be hard on yourself if you feel a bit rubbish at the moment (that is a perfectly normal reaction for anyone) you will get through this.

I am ok this evening and much calmer than I have been for about 2 weeks.

We have the funeral to organise next week but for now I am going to have a chilled weekend.
