Hiya

Any advice on my Axiety etc would be apreciated.

My panic, Axiety started sometime last year, when i was in quite a stressful job, it was a nightmare as work everyday, never knew if you had a job etc, so i developed first panic attack, though i was dying, was awful, from then i tackled the problem with herbal remedies and was feeling a lot better.

I then met a fella, he was from London i was then living in Durham, we had a long distance relationship, but then after being on hoilday decided i would move to London to be with him, so i did that last October.

I was feeling a bit shaky etc when i first moved down here, but i started to get better, got a good job and was settling in well.

From Xmas onwards have been a nightmare

I started feeling worse and worse, having general panic attacks for no reason, pains everywhere etc i feel unreal most the time, dizzy from time to time, forgetful, and i have recently started feeling very down, lost appitite, got no enthusiasm about anything, always feel or think i'm going to have a panic attack.

So its really getting me down now

Anyone give me advice ?

Whats the best herbal remedies to use ? What has helped you thru similar?

Hi Helen

I assume you have been to your GP for advice.

Reading through your story, you have been through quite a bit of stress and I am not sure if you are on any medication for it.

Bach rescue remedy is useful to have
What herbal remedies have you used before.
Have you tried reading any of Claire Weekes books or finding out about CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) about changing your thoughts. Sometimes its the fear of things that cause the awful anxiety symptoms and you may need to reaccess stressful things in your life.

Not sure if this is of any help but have a good read about on this site there are lots of useful tips and suggestions.

Take care

Hi Helen,

I tackled my panic by reading up on the symptoms, how to deal with them etc (claire weekes books are brilliant) and by having a few CBT sessions which helped me to understand the connection between my thoughts and my physical symptoms.
that has been the key for me, really. it sounds stupid but it is mainly in our heads (this is easier to say than to actually believe, especially when you feel a panic coming on) and we have to find ways of making ourselves believe that it is our brain and our thoughts that are causing the symptoms and making them worse.
in addition to this, cutting out caffeine, alcohol etc helps, as does stuff like bachs rescue remedy.
hope that all makes sense, sorry to ramble,
henri x

Hiya

Thanks for your replys

I have been to my GP, and he was happy for me to take herbal remedies, as i did not want to turn to AD's (not knocking anyone whos taking them, just wanted to try the herbal way first)

I was on Valerian but it seems to slow you down too much.

I use rescue remedy a lot ! lol And it feel it helps me in those akward situations.

I have a book that i'am reading called Overcoming Axiety by Helen Kennerley, i'm reading that atm.

I have also been for an assesment for councilling and i'm now waiting to start a course of that.

I'm starting to try and think more positive, i think its the depression side i need to tackle first to get my thoughst and everyday thinking back to being positive.

I suppose also i really dont understand why i have let this get so far, i have everything i wished for in life which is making it harder to get thru.

Information is one of the keys I believe.

Claire Weekes I found very useful. When I asked the neurologist what I could take to stop it all happening he just tapped his head as if to say that YOU have the control to turn it off.

Ultimately he's right but to get the thoughts sorted out to turn it off takes education, patience, support and a subtle blend of determination and relaxtion towards it all. Exercise also helped me along with diet adjustments and vitamin supplements. There's loads of stuff on the site to dig into regards all of this. Have a good look around and don't despair, you can ovecome it.

Cheers,
Trev :D
