Hi All
I have been having stomach pains and a few other sympoms for a couple of weeks and my doctor has diagnosed IBS. She thinks it might have come on as i have an interview in a few weeks and I am worried about how i am going to cope with my anxiety. She gave me a leaflet which explains the condition and what i could try to help but I was just wondering if anyone else suffers with this and what you do that might help? Any suggestions or advice is much appreciated.
Thanks
Suzy xx :)

Hi Suzy, I have had IBS for years and has been very nasty at times to, but it was only diagnosed 2 years ago when I got referred to a gastro specialist, who then sent me for a number of tests such as, blood tests, x-rays, Barium enema and a Sygmoidoscopy. I was at my worst with anxiety at the time as I was sure with all the pain and even bleeding I had bowel cancer. Just knowing it was IBS and not cancer reduced the anxiety which in itself reduced the IBS symptoms. I have started to get a bit of IBS back this past couple of weeks, but after knowing it isn’t anything serious it has been pretty good for years. I have tried all sorts of diets for it but, at the end of the day the only thing that seems to help me is when I am not so stressed. Take care. Vernon

Hey i have had ibs in the past but have been well for the past 6 months! this is due to eating a low fibre diet, avoiding cabbage, beans broccolli except in very small quanties i.e at xmas! cutting out wheat and milk again except on rare occasions.
Eating lots of japenese food- ie rice, miso soup tuna steak, steak etc and chinese - spring rolls, teppanyaki has really helped and ive lost 2 stone! Oh probiotic yoghurt helps me as well.
i also joined a singing and dancing group which gave me something positive and de-stressful to do! i also go swimming to help me relax as i think the more uptight you get the worse it is!
I am also taking codiene and paracetamol but only if i get alot of stomach pains and they usually work. Also a lavender bag in the microwave helps stomach cramps!
I hope some of this helps you!
Good luck! :)
