View Full Version : Ligament damage?

I sprained my foot quite badly about 2 months ago at work. I'd hurt this foot before but it wasn't as bad.
Nothing was broken as I got it checked out and stuff and after a few days of freeze spray by deep heat it was better and I went back to work. It was still abit achy but I expected that. Now almost 2 months later and I can still get pain in the foot. Usually if I say turn around quickly on it, or step on it funny or something, but now I'm wondering if this is going to be something more permenant?
I keep meaning to put a claim in (I fell on a step I didn't know was there and the word 'step' is on the wrong side of the door) but I'm thinking if something is more permantly hurt that I should get confirmation of that before putting anything in.

I get a similar pain in my right shoulder (but through my own doing with weights etc). I must have strained/hurt something a while back by not warming up properly and then every now and again it returns.

It returned about 3 times and on two occasions I got it checked out because I was worried about permanent damage too. I was told that it was unlikely to be permanent muscle damage and more like ligaments or whatever.

After also lots of deep heat and other creams (and rest from the gym) it always went. I don't currently have it but if I don't train sensibly I know it is waiting for me. I think if you had a permanent injury it would probably be more likely to throb and hurt all the time! Sure, maybe it's a bit more worn than it used to be (hence the return of the pain) but it could be something which will disappear over time (like my shoulder issue).

You might put in a claim and by the time they call you up it is fine!:D Then you might feel differently about it all. I went to the doctor once when it was killing me, by the time I got called by the muscle/ligaments specialist (can't remember the professional title) it was gone! I felt like an idiot going to see her wasting her time. Bloody NHS waiting times!:lac:

Thanks for that :)
I'll probably just ask in general next time I see my doc and see what he says, he's pretty good!

Okay, but if he says he's going to send you to see someone tell him to make it snappy!!:roflmao:
