Hi everyone, So pleased to find your site. My name is Susan and I live in Wales. I have suffered from anxiety attacks now for around 25 yrs- I am 42. I now do not drink, do not smoke etc and can not take ssris or the old drugs as Ive had severe reactions. I do use valium in an emergency but cant take beta blockers as they give me asthma! Oh joy! I have recently asked for help from my GP, have been assessed and told I would have to pay for private councilling- unwaged not an option. like a lot of sufferers, I still have my spirit and humour so I have become Buddhist this week over the net- thought Id try meditation and a change of karma! I also support animal rights- dont know how much of that is healing by proxy. All I do know is that most sufferers are the warmest, kindest people... Ihave no idea why that is!

Hi Susan,

Welcome to the site. If you are unable to take drugs and not be able to afford counselling or therapy, being involved in this site is a good option!

Maybe by studying what is written here (both on the main pages and the forum) you will gain and relief and understanding.

I don't know how you suffer, or how deep that is, but there are some inexpensive solutions about for a number of cases.

Take Care,

Ray

Hi Susan,
Welcome and so glad you have found us. I know how you feel, as I recently went to the doctors...very depressed, crying all the time, huge issues...and she told me the only free counselling available was Anger Management and that all other counselling is classed as private treatment, so it would have to be paid for by myself. Great NHS...not meaning to sound at all sarcastic. I think that it takes so much courage to actually get to the doctors and it is difficult when you come away feeling rebuffed. Mind you the plus side of all of that is that we have come looking for ourselves and hey look what we found. This site has been of tremendous comfort to me and the users are fab...I have had so much support. So, again, welcome to the fold and we will always be here for you whenever you need us.
Best wishes,

Blue Child

I cant beleive Ive introduced myself twice!! How self important is that!! When I first logged on (days ago) I had a really bad cold, temperiture etc. I managed to cancel myself out of another site completely! Thankyou all for such a warm welcome! - Ive only just found my messages! I dont socialise much so its genuinely meant a lot to me. Yes, the buddhist thing seems to be working well for me actually. Im managing to let go of a lot of the anger that I have held inside for many years. Dont know if this will work long term- I can hold quite a grudge! The breathing/ exersise thing seems benificial too. I shall post more when Ive figured my way around a bit more- not quite sure how to post what where yet! try to thank you all personally next time as sure Ill lose this if I try to get messages up now! thanks again, Susan.
