have a ball

take a book, even a self help one.( claire weekes perhaps )

lots of sweeties to suck when you feel panicky

have the car quiet and warm for great comfort

let your hubby drive in peace, its safer if you dont drive the poor man mad.lol

I went to cornwall last year - 8 hours drive.

A puzzle book kept me sane! oh and rescue remedy ,water, sweets, good CD and regular breaks for food and drinks.

have a fab holiday!

hiya mary..
You having a nice break to cornwall is going to do you the world of good, so i hope ya let ya hair down, while ya there love.. and i pray that you will be at peace there with yourself, because you deserve it.
If ya like a good cross word book,or a puzzle book take one of those to take ya mind of the journey, because that may help you a little- like nic said .. and jack said a real good idea to take a self -help book with you..i like that idea.
Or even a personal stereo with soothing music playing in it..i could suggest other things ,,but i think it may be a little saucy for on here lol.
Hope that helps, your be fine mary .. think poisitive... i hope you have a lovley lovley time..
Miss ya

Why live life anticipating the bad things when you could be anticipating the good?

I would make sure you stop off several times. Stretch your legs and breathe in some air. But I wouldn't read too much- that tends to make a lot of people feel sick.

I know it sounds daft but silly games like I-spy are good for distraction. Keep the radio on some lively music and keep talking. I drive long distances regularly in my work and although I don't exactly get anxious I do get a touch of cabin fever and these things help me a bit.

Most of all - enjoy ourself. Getting away is a rarity!

Hi Mary,

Have just read your post so hope I havent missed you.....hope you have a great trip, you deserve it!

You sound just like my mum as a passenger (mind the wall/other car/ man on bike etc).....my dad used to remind her that when you sit your driving test you do actually have to be able to see!!!lol

I'm with Shiv on the reading....even glancing at a book makes me feel sick!

Have a lovely time Mary Rose
