for me, if during the day i feel like i've gone some way to changing things (bike ride, good gym day, or a chat with stranger, or even just done something more 'normal' & so on), i feel good about it
If during the day I'm not making any progress, I feel http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/7/70/Censored_rubber_stamp.svg/50px-Censored_rubber_stamp.svg.png. and the less i think about..anything, the better
