I've noticed one or two people already getting concerned about the E. Coli outbreak, and this will probably now get fuelled by news on the radio that there are a small number of people in the UK who have got E. Coli.

Before people start getting really worried about this:

* all the affected people have recently been to Germany and have picked up the bug there - not here
* usually, you have to eat infected food or come into contact with infected water to contract it - or have been in close contact with someone with active infection
* washing fruit and veg, and making sure you always wash your hands after going to the loo are very helpful in prevention infection

However, it does seem to be a new strain of the bug, but the Health protection Agency here are already looking at it. In my job, I have to do some work for our emergency planning manager, so if I get any useful information, I'll post it for everyone.

In summary, DON'T PANIC. There is absolutely no suggestion at the moment that the bug is active in this country. :flowers:
