Worried about persistent heartburn.

I've had heartburn since February. Before that on & off, but more consistently since then. I took omeprazole which helped, but it gave me bad bloating pain & diarrhoea. So doctor gave me ranitidine. That hasn't made any difference to heartburn at all! I stopped taking after 10 days because I was getting side effects with that too - really bad ectopics & extreme tiredness. So now I'm back to gaviscon as & when. The problem is I'm getting really scared about why I still have this heartburn. I took the omeprazole for just over a month. Part of me is worried that if it's been getting steadily worse for the last year, it could be something really bad.:weep:

It could be related to your diet.

What sort of things do you eat?

Oh and do you smoke and drink alcohol?

I drink wine. Probably more than I should! I don't smoke. My diet varies loads. Nothing stands out. Not a big sweet tooth, so not a lot of sugar in my diet. I eat most things though.:shrug:

Wine will really aggrevate the indigestion problems to be honest.

I was told to avoid alcohol when I had the same problems
