Hi all, I'm a bit concerned I've had my period for approx 4 - 5 years now they still aren't regular. My period comes every 4 months or so and can last up to 8 days, I have been to the doctors about this and the doc has put it down to stress but done blood tests for several things and it has come back fine. Just wondering if this is OK and I had my period on 24th May - 2nd June it is now 16th June and I'm back on again?!?!?! So confused:shrug:

It can take periods a number of years to settle down into a regular pattern, and for some people, they never have a very "normal" cycle. It might be worth chatting with your mum and other female members of your family to see what is normal for them, as menstruation patterns are often hereditary. If it carries on being really irregular, go back to your GP as they might suggest some treatment; going on the pill will give you a regular cycle as it surpresses your own hormones.

Just an update - Went to doctors the other day as I'm going away soon and I mentioned the periods he gave me some pills to stop my periods whilst I'm away but when I come back I might ask him if I can go on the pill.. It's not doing me any harm having a period every 4 months but it concerns me sometimes. I really hope I can have kids when I'm older :( Thanks for your advice! Raf x
