Does anyone else suffer from panic attacks associated with anything like this? I used to scared of motorwyas, and then dual carriageways, and now any srtaight road which I cannot pull over from. It has started to really affect my life, as I have to avoid many roads, do not visit my mum, and friends. It is not rational to me, and does end up being dangerous, as I have two kids, and am scared of crashing as I black out, and slam on the breaks. I know where it all stems from, but cannot treat it. I have only recently got worse.......anyone understand this? Sorry, I am new.

Oh yes I can relate to this!!!! I really don't like motorways at all & avoid them. You say that you know where this stems from but cannot treat it. Can you go to someone who can help treat it? Have you already tried this? It is a horrible feeling when you feel that you cannot just go anywhere you want without feeling terrible fear & dread. However, I promise you, you are not alone!!!!

Hi Tessie, you are so very brave for even getting behind the wheel of a car, i rely on my other half to drive me around, and even then when wher're on the motorway it stresses me out and on a long journey my hands just sweat and i can't speak (only to tell the kids to be quiet!!). I'm sure you'll get through this. I wish i could be more help. Don't let it get you down. marieX

Hi Tessie

I totally undertsand where your coming from, i started off like you being scared of motorways and then it progressed. I also have a phobia of being a passenger, dont think were gonna stop in time and will hit the back of someone.
I have been refered for CBT soon so hopefully that will help.

You are not alone, everyone on this site is understanding and there for you
Love Carolyn x
