View Full Version : Buzzing in my ear

A few years ago I developed an intermittent buzzing/humming sound in my right ear. I was lying in bed when I first noticed it & initially though it was an aeroplane in the distance but I soon realised the sound was coming from inside my ear.

I saw an ENT specialist who checked my hearing, which was found to be perfect. He said it might be tinnitus & that there's no magic cure for that.

Anyway, the problem went away, apart from the odd time when I might get the intermittent 'buzz' back for a short time (an hour or two). That was until about a month ago when the 'buzz' returned. This time, though, it seemed to be constant & louder than before.

Generally, if there's plenty going on around I do not notice the sound but as soon as I get into a quieter environment, it's audible. I obviously notice it more at night, when I go to bed & last night the 'buzz' was so loud & constant that it caused me problems getting to sleep & I felt like bashing my head against the wall:wall:

Apart from the odd couple of days, the 'buzz' has been present & constant during the last few weeks, which has been driving me crazy. I don't feel as though I've got any problems with my hearing & I actually had a hearing test a year & a half ago, relating to a neck pain I was experiencing & again my hearing was found to be perfect.

I just wonder if anyone has experienced anything similar & if anyone can give me any advice?

Yes, I get that when very anxious. It drives you crazy doesnt it.. I found that it is worse when I use the pc for too long strangely.. Also have found that the noise is only in one ear, the right one which is the same side I have a shoulder impingement so maybe connected ?

it's called tinnitus, I always had it but lately it's much worse, sometimes I get a high pitched sound which makes my head hurt.
asking your doc to clean out your ears might help a bit ;)
