i was given citralpoam today and my dosage had been uped to 20mg up until today i was taking only 10mg now im taking 20mg is that not a shock to my body system. i hada few 10mg tabs left so he told me to take 2 of thm a day instead of 1 so it makes up for the 20mg tabs until i start my new pack.

my mates think that this will harm me and now make me feel scared. obviously going away on friday and i dont want it making me feel worse.

Have i anything to feel scared about xx

I wouldn't up the dose until after the holiday to be honest.

It may make you feel worse for a few days and you don't want to feel bad on holiday.

How long have you been on 10mg?

Personally I would like to see you on them longer than 3 weeks before upping the dose - it has to be done slowly. Docs seem to increase them too soon in my opinion.

Go back to 10mg tomorrow is my advice and leave the increase until after holiday.

i was on 10mg for a month and now 20mg i dont have enough 10mg tablets to get me thru the weekedn so is itb a m atter of halving the 20mg tablet, wont i get worse now if tomorrow i go back to 10mg after taking 20mg today

I am not sure about halving them though. Can you not ask doc for some more 10mg till after weekend.

No 2x10mg is less than one 20mg one.

hi katy, no taking 2 10mg tablets is just increasing the dose and therefore the effect of the medication.
i know people have posted before that when they've increased there dose, its spaced them out a bit in the short term. because your going away, its not worth you risking it - it might not make any difference to you, it might help you loads, but if you kinda ok now, the sensible thing to do is wait until you come back from your break. tc, andrew

the thing is ive started my 20mg dose today or taken 2 10mg so if i go back tomorrow to 10mg my body will be messed up i have 4 10mg tabs left so no i wouldnt have them for the whole holss

Your body won't notice the change back to 10mg but will notice the upped dose to 20mg after a few days and you may/may not feel worse.

Get some more 10mg tablets and stay on them till after the weekend.

Your body wont really have had time to have got used to the 20mg pills, so it wont hurt to go back to 10mg, I am on citalopram and used to up and down my dose all the time.
