hi everybody,
im new here, the site looks brilliant. love the support people are offering each other.

Im have social Anxiety and Low self Esteem, im 20 but feel nothing like that, i dont go out at the weekends or see friends much. If i do go out with my friends for the night it takes MANY dress rehearsals, and days of insecurities and worrying.
i never really leave the house without my partner. infact i live by him. i dont answer the phone to anyone i dont know or the door. i go red sooooo easily which makes me want to hide forever.

im just wondering if you have been throught this? is it a thing you tackled? and how difficultwas it for you?

sorry for all the questions Im just feeling so stuck.

thank you or reading Toni x

Hello Toni:)

so sorry you are feeling down and struggling a bit ....you have found a lovely forum for help and advice . sometimes it takes time to get replies so dont feel you are being ignored at first .

Have you seen your doctor for therapy or meds ? or do you want to manage this yourself ?

anyway welcome from me Toni ...........one thing for sure .you are not alone in feeling as you do .
:hugs:

Hi Toni

I think these things do get easier as you get older. I still get anxious going out socialising, but there are some places I find easier than others and of course some people are easier company than others! I still get anxious with callers on the phone and at the door, but not as much as I did in my youth.

I think the best way to tackle it is to keep battling with it by facing your fears, but also try and find a lifestyle which suits you. You don't have to do what everyone else does if it makes you more anxious. Sometimes you can have friends that want a busier, noisier social life, when you would prefer a quieter one. There's nothing wrong a quieter life if that's what suits YOU. It just depends what you want. Develop your own interests to raise your self-esteem, try and meet like minded people etc. You can improve your situation dramatically over time.
