Hi I've had several lymph nodes around my neck and head none of them hurt but are definitely noticeable when you touch them. When I got them I went to the doc and she ordered some blood tests although said they look like reactive lymph nodes to the infection or smth. Blood work came back normal and sins then I found another node on the nack of my head which is hard I think (could be cos there is no fat tissue around it it's sort of at the end of the neck when it's the start of the scalp). Anyway the doctor said she doesn't know why I get this and suggested I go to the blood specialist. I don't know why cos blood work is normal should I ask for certain tests? Or should I just attribute these nodes to being overly worried about them and just wait couple more weeks see if they go away? It's been around 2-3 weeks that I had them and be ause I don't have any infections or smth that could show up on blood work I worry it can be smth dangerous? Am I being silly and overly anxious? Could you get lymph nodes without being sick or having sn infection? Thx for your help!

i get really swollen lmyph nodes and its because of the pollen which is really high at the moment could this be causeiung yours? as that would explain why your bloods are normal?

i am in a similar situation to you at the minute!

i have just one gland which is swollen it is on the left side by my collar bone,it has been like that now for 4 or 5 weeks with no change. i get occasional pain in my shoulder and recently in my back. i have seen about 5 docs about this as i was very worried and they all say it is nothing to worry about.

my last doc just as reassurance sent me to have a blood test. this came back fine! i know that many people ssay a blood test can not show up cancer....but it would show differences and abnormalities so a doc would know to do further investigation.

the key to this is not worry and try to not check cause the more you poke the more they will be there and remain enlarged. some glads are what are described by docs as 'shotty' this is a gland that can become enlarged (mainly down to infection) and remain that way. you may havethem for the rest of your life.

the time to worry is if

a) you lose weight rapidly without trying
b) you suffer continuous night sweats
c) you get a continual itching all over the body
d)the node becone enlarged bigger than 2cm

even then it still may be soething simple, anxiety itself can create the very symptoms that are linked to deadly desease. hence we think we have it!!

try to relax the mind and do things to pre occupy yourself!!

good luck and best wishes!

mike

I just try to tell myself that it's health anxiety and they appeared when I was quite stressed with work etc so it's not cancer or anth but every time I remember they are there and not going away my mind goes crazy and starts imagining all sorts of things.
