citalopram increase

Hi, I've been on citalopram 20mg for almost 3 years after suffering badly with anxiety...probably 2 1/2 of these years ive been well, wish I'd weaned myself off now but was always a bit afraid. Now anxiety is back and badly, doctor increased my dose from 20 to 30 mgs about 2 weeks ago and then i was so bad increased to 40mgs. My anxiety is SO bad I'm really suffering, is this likely to be from the increase?

It can be, one of the side effects (ironically) is anxiety and nervousness. It should go away in a couple of weeks. Don't worry about the dose increase, i myself had been taking 20mg/day for 1.5yrs before it hit me again and i was upped to 40mg. Suffered some SEs for the first week but they eventually went away. Keep up!

Yes I agree, it's probably just side effects of the increase, it was quite recent, so hang in there. It's only really if you still feel this bad in say a month's time that you'd be questioning whether the dose increase is right for you.
