Cat scratched my leg tonight and left a little puncture mark on a tiny vein, and I am wondering if this can cause pulmonary embolism or thrombosis??? It didnt bleed at all, just bit of red on the scratch

No it can't be caused by a cat scratch so try not to worry about it.

I assume you have had a tetanus jab at some point though?

Hi

Please dont worry, Am sure that this wont cause any problems to you, I had a cat and got lots of scratches and had nothing from then, If you are really concerned tho speak to your nurse at your doctors about a tetnus jab - sure tho by tomorrow or tuesday this will be gone and wont hurt you, it is just a fear we have due to anxiety that these things lead to health symptoms

Take Care

I had a tetanus shot in 1999, they are covered for 10 years arent they, or has it all changed? So is tetanus the worst I could get from this then?

Yes I believe tetnus Jabs do last for Ten years, I know that even for a nasty bite for example from a dog (my friend had one) that a tetnus is sufficient in this country so you are definatley covered and have nothing to worry about

you wont have contracted anything from your cat scratch the worst i would say would be a localised skin infection which your body will take care of itself, there is no danger of an embolism from a cat in fact from any scratch, and tetanus lasts 10years and is now generally given in combined form with diphtheria and inactivated polio immunisation

Hi - you won't have any problems from a cat scratch, especially if it didn't break the skin. My cat has attacked me daily for 10 years and I'm still here - scars and all!!!
Try not to worry
