Hi there, I'm suffering from Panis Disorder and GAD and my doc has come to the conclusion that I now need to be on 60 mg citalopram or switch to prozac.

My question really is should I give it a few weeks or months on the 60mg, or just bite the bullet and up to a stronger SSRI now. any advice or experiences would be a help.

Thanks John.

If you are already taking 40mg of Citalopram ,it would be better for you to try the 60mg and see how you are in a month or so tbh .Prozac is more for Depression and Cit is better for Anxiety so I believe .If you switch you will experience withdrwals and get added side effects from the Prozac .So well worth trying the 60 mg first .Have you recieved any CBT for your anxiety ? If not it would be well worth asking the Dr about it ,it usually helps .There are usually long waiting lists so you need to get your name down ..Gd luck Sue x:hugs:

I agree with Sue: I think it's best to stick with the devil you know and try the higher dose first before switching to another AD which is likely to disrupt your system.

Prozac (fluoxetine) isn't a stronger med - they all act in the same manner but have slightly varying side effects and efficacies depending on the individual.
