Hi just spoke to my doctor and i have had 2 urine samples done and both have had microscopic blood and protein in...

He sent them off to be cultured to see if they was any germs and it come back ok nothing there... Now i have to take another sample in on monday morning to see if its still there and my other culture test will be back.

Now if it is he said that he will get it investigated... What could be causing it? Freaking out a little bit! :S and dont want to google as it will put the frighteners on me!

Trevstan

Have Googled on your behalf!

Looks like this can happen if you have had a nasty infection such as glandular fever, mumps, measles etc. Also can happen if you have had abscesses (maybe tooth related).

Very often, a second test will show that it has cleared up by itself, if not they can treat it for you.

No need to google the horrible causes since the key to your problem is the doctors use of the word "microscopic".

Hope that helps.

hi, a couple of years ago my son had blood in his urine. He had a scan of his kidneys that showed a spot of inflammation on one kidney. This was put down to an infection.

Have you had your colonscopy yet?

I see the consultant in 1 hr about what he reccomends, everything seems to be happening to me of late... :(

Sometimes health problems come at once when we can least cope. Anxiety heightens every fear, makes you think the worst and has you in a constant state of worry.

Blood in urine is very common and I'm sure it won't be anything nasty. I ahd it 4 times last year and they never knew why. All the bacteria tests were negative.

Hope it went well with the consultant.

Hi there

I cant comment on the protein aspect although I do understand there can be a number of reasons for a 'one off' indication of its presence. With regards the blood, this can often be an indication of recovering from an infection or just a slight inflamation of the bladder. Recovers fairly quickly and often without medication.

So both can be absolutely nothing to worry about but am sure the specialist will put your mind at ease. Hope you got on ok.

:hugs:

Ah the consultant was to do with my weight loss they booked me in for a routine colonoscopy just to find out why i am passing some blood with my stool and mucus and a bit of weight loss... The specialist think's it's more than likely IBD but me being me alway's think the worst.

The waiting list at the hospital for non-urgent people is 8 week's but they managed to transfer me to another hospital and will be seen on monday, happy time's less time to get worked up.

What i find stupid is they can't transfer the urgent people from then hospital to the one i am going to.

Could that be the reason it feel's like my body is retaining water and not peeing it out? Is that even possible? I don't wanna google lol... i was weighing 104kg the other day now i am 105.8kg and i don't think i could put that much weight on in 4 day's?

I asked him what could cause it and he said most case's they never find out why it's there it just is but best to safe incase it's a tumour< Can't beleive he said that to me freak me out please why not!...

So now again even before i go for my colonoscopy i am worried about this.... Cheer's Doc.
