:)Hello all,

starting a new job on monday, which i am very happy about.

however it involves staying away for 2 nights. i dont like stying away from home alone as it is.

does anyone have any tips on how to cope with anxiety in this situation?

thanks in advance.

Hi Janine

Have a plan worked out for what you will do in the evenings while you are away. Take with you whatever will help relax you - music, books, newspapers, crosswords etc. If you will be going out try and find out what is going on that you may enjoy. Find out where you can get a nice meal, drink etc. Would you be socialising with colleagues at all? Would you find that helpful?

Lastly, but most importantly make sure you have your mobile phone with you and any important contacts so you can spend as long as you want on the phone with friends. This will really help you not to feel homesick.

Good luck with the new job.

Tyke :)

Is it not too late to go? Could you go in the morning or get someone to take you?

They said they will have to offer the job out to someone else as it involves 6 weeks training at the opposite end of the country to me!

Had a big chat with someone last night with who has been through similar feelings.

feeling a bit better now.

Im trying not to lose sight of the fact i got all the way to london on my own before i turned back.

Hi Janine

Sorry to hear it didn't work out. Six weeks training at the other end of the country would be very tough for most of us on here. I wouldn't be able to do it either.
