Claire Weekes
Dear NMP team
i've used the site frequently and posted a few times as and when i have bouts of panic / anxiety and it really is a great site. I've just returned to work after 6 weeks off with anxiety and depression. my doctor prescribed cipralex for the depression and need to take for approx 6 months. i'm seeing a psychologist to help me sort out my panic attacks and work on strategies to eliminate the fears and anxiousness. it is taking time but i do feel a heck of a lot better than i did. my question to the team is can you tell tell me anything about Claire Weekes? a friend at work gave me the name and said Mz Weekes deals with panic/sensitization/depression etc. I found some books on the internet but some of them date twenty plus years ago. is there any more up to date info/books etc.
any help you can give would be appreciated
thanks

Clive,
Claire Weekes did indeed write those books 20, or even 30 years ago, but they are still excellent and reassuring. I would recommend
Essential Help for Your Nerves
Self Help for Your Nerves

Hi
I have all Claire Weekes books I think there are 4 in all. They may have been written a while ago but are very good. Anxiety is the same as it was then!! I think she died a few years ago. I would recommend the books. I also found a book called 'When Panic Attacks' by Aine Tubridy recently which has a cd with it and I think this is a good one too.
Hope this helps

Hi Clive
I have just bought 'Self Help for your Nerves' from Amazon. It is excellent and yes I agree with the others, anxiety is still the same as when the book was written a few years back!

She died in 1990, I was only 9 then but even now, 16 years after she died, her books have helped me somewhat.

I read "Hope and Help For Your Nerves" by Dr Claire Weeks. It is helpful. I lost track of my book years ago and need to find another one. She was very knowledgable. She covered all grounds. Her books are more thorough and easier to understand than most of those writtern today that seem to take you in circles. They are written more in layman's terms. Reading them helped me get thru some really tough times.

Oh yeah, there is another Claire Weeks book called "Peace From Nervous Suffering". Try that one too.
