Stabbing Pain When Using Peak Flow Meter
hey all. I recently purchased a peak flow meter to measure the capacity of my lungs since I'm paranoid about them functioning properly. this is the first day I've used it and I've used it a lot, I get episodes of shortness of breath from my acid reflux and such. when I was exhaling I felt a stabbing pain right beneath my heart which freaked me out. Could it just be from strain? It definitely hurts when I press down on it

Bin the meter! You're just feeding your anxiety by having it and all the self testing is why you're feeling the way you are!

Checked in with my GP, just some strain. I got a sore throat and cough as well, probably from doing it so much x.x

Re: Stabbing Pain When Using Peak Flow Meter
Yes, you probably strained something and then made it worse by doing it over and over again.
Why on earth would you think you need a peak flow meter? I know what you posted, but again, why? Also, what did you discover from the readings? Did they cause you more anxiety or less?

Re: Stabbing Pain When Using Peak Flow Meter
I suffer from acid reflux a lot as well as chest pain from anxiety and muscular injury. So I feel short of breath very often. I figured that a peak flow meter would help me worry less about it being because of my lungs.
Re: Stabbing Pain When Using Peak Flow Meter
and it has, but I'm also worried about it hurting my head somehow from The Strain. I have a big fear of strain causing a brain aneurysm to pop or a stroke or something like that
Re: Stabbing Pain When Using Peak Flow Meter
Then just bin the meter!
