Enlarged tongue? Slavering.

Hello, me again lol. I'm a 16 year old girl with severe health anxiety. I also take 20mg fluoxitene every day.
Lately I have had very big worries over mnd/ALS. From twitching, sore muscles and now a feeling that something is wrong with my tongue.

My muscles have been very sore, and lastnight my right arm cramped so much I felt like I was going to be sick from the pain. I took a hot bath which seemed to relieve my muscles.
My tongue feels enlarged, and I woke up this morning with lots of saliva on my pillow and face, quite horrible lol. Could this be caused by my fluoxitene?
I just want these worries of ALS Out of my head, I cant stop worrying over it and it's ruining my life.

My doctor has showed no concern, I know this should put my mind at rest but it does not :(
I really need some help.

ALS at 16 years of age is impossible. Enjoy your life

I agree with matrix, at 16, there is absolutely no way you can have ALS.

I will tell you that I started worrying about ALS a few years back when I was 37. I had been stressed about MS and then started to twitch. I looked up twitching and then was convinced. I twitched everywhere and I also had a lot of cramps and the feeling of weakness.

I started worrying about bulbar and this caused me to start noticing certain words being more difficult to say. My arm was weak. I was so convinced.

I went to an ALS specialist as my boyfriend had called the hospital and asked who would be the best person for me to see (he was sure I didn't have anything but knew that he alone could not convince me).

I went in and saw the neurologist. He did a clinical exam and told me that he was 99% sure there was nothing wrong. When I asked him about the speech he said that it was anxiety (and no one else could hear anything wrong). When I asked if anxiety could really do that he said "Anxiety can do whatever it wants". THESE ARE VERY WISE WORDS!!!!

Anyway, he still had me come back that week for the EMG and NCV and he said he would do them himself (which he did). There was nothing wrong.

I continued twitching and sometimes I still feel that my tongue feels too wide and it is more difficult for me to say certain things, but I think the stress caused me to hold my mouth differently when I am thinking about it, or stressed). Also I think some is to do with breathing as if I have a cough sweet and my nose is cleared it feels better for a short time.

I basically have benign fasciculation syndrome with cramps.

I am sure that you are fine, but if you dwell on it then you will get symptoms because that is what anxiety does. The more stressed the more twitching occurs. Once you know they are harmless they can be okay and funny at times. I get one on my rib cage occasionally where it twitches when I breath out. It is obviously a intercostal muscle that twitches as it relaxes after being used. You will find that muscles tend to twitch after they have been used. They are harmless. You are fine.
