Re: Coming off Cital after 2 years on 20mg
I am now down to 5mg of Citalopram and 15mg of Mirtazipine.
The side affects from coming off the Citalopram have been greatly reduced, this is down to the Mirtazipine. I think I will be on 5mg this week and down to every other day next week.
I'll keep updating my status.
Re: Coming off Cital after 2 years on 20mg
Is it the plan to then increase the mirt Mark?
Re: Coming off Cital after 2 years on 20mg
Hi folks,
I've be on Mirt for over a month now, and I'm finally off Citalopram.
I've been a little dizzy and had a couple of floaty spells in the past two weeks. My Libido has come back big time tho, and that was the reason for the Mirt. But I would recommend switching to Mirt when coming off the Citalopram.
Re: Coming off Cital after 2 years on 20mg
I've been completely off the Citalopram for two weeks now and on 30mg of Mirtazipine for the same time.
I feel ok, no more `floaty' spells. :D
Re: Coming off Cital after 2 years on 20mg
Anxiety is back with a bang.:weep:
Had a rotten week at work - very spaced out and panic-like.
This afternoon was the worst, but I still managed to stay in work.
Back on the Citalopram 10mg for three days now.
Citalopram is the ONLY thing that has taken away my anxiety in the 23 years in me having the condition. Here's hoping that it works again.
Re: Coming off Cital after 2 years on 20mg
Yip, still feeling terrible at work and not sleeping so good.
Re: Coming off Cital after 2 years on 20mg
Hi UrbanMark,
I just read your thread. Sounds very similar to me. I've been on cipramil for coming up 6 years. It changed my life. I was able to cope better, go out again and have some semblence of a life. When things get good I want to come off them as I have no libido and it affects my relationship. I typically reduce by 5mg and usually I get a bad migraine for a couple days but I feel really quite good.
I was off totally for over a week until BANG. I thought i was doing ok but my family said I wasn't. I was snappy, impatient, angry and stressed out like I used to be. It usually culminates in me not coping and going back on them again feeling defeated.
At this stage I don't know where I stand with them. I am on 15mg but still suffer daily with anxiety. I don't know if I should go up to 20mg or try and work with what I have here.
I really understand the shit that comes with going up and down on them.
I try to think that I am a very lucky person to have found something that actually works for me though.
Take care and thanks again for your posts and your insights.
Re: Coming off Cital after 2 years on 20mg
UPDATE
I am now on Quetiapine.
I stopped Citalopram dead, no taper, no half measures, just one day I was on it and the next I wasn't. I take Quetiapine instead, and it's great, it's Citalopram with NO SIDE AFFECTS. I'm feeling great and my libido is great too. :D
Re: Coming off Cital after 2 years on 20mg
Update
Quetiapine 50mg was great - 25mg, not so great, I'm back to being in a `raw' state. Quite anxious, can't concentrate, scared of the future. Intrusive thoughts 24/7.
I've decided to back onto the 50mg for the time being.
Re: Coming off Cital after 2 years on 20mg
So.... been back on the 50mg Quetiapine for almost a month now and it's been ok.
I started back at work today after a two week holiday and I felt terrible, very negative, couldn't concentrate and had to leave my desk to go for a `toilet' break at least six times. My head is actually physically pounding right now.
