Re: A photo of my baby Lady RIP
Elspeth,
Sending tons of ((hugs)) to you right now. Pets are part of our family.
My cat had to be put down not so long ago, he had cancer and was only 14mths old, it broke my heart.
We now have two new kittens. I know it's early days, but will you be thinking of getting a new kitten ? I know a new kitten will never replace her, but it helps with the emotional pain.
Heaven is looking after your little one, she's a beautiful cat, she's now resting in peace and being looked after by the angels.
Look after yourself Elspeth x

Re: A photo of my baby Lady RIP
I found this poem a wonderful comfort when I lost my much loved cat and hope it brings some comfort.
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

It's very gushy and sappy but for picturing my very old and sick cat playing like a kitten brought a smile to my face.

I can't believe that this heartache, pain & grief just gets worse.

Hello Elspeth.
What a lovely photo of Lady. I'm so sorry that you are still suffering so much. I have lost more than one special cat over the years and so I know how awful you feel. It will take time but it really does get easier eventually.
Thinking of you. Take care.

Re: A photo of my baby Lady RIP
Els,
have you thought about contacting the blue cross or another pet bereavement service, i have used them before and they are very good.
Although we are all here for you, they can offer specific help in helping you to deal with your grief.
Maybe you have contacted them already, but if not maybe its worth thinking about. just a thought.....
take care:hugs:
