Seems like pretty much the same here in the UK.
Even now there's still people who, despite opining that Boris Johnson is the worst PM they've ever known within their lifetime, they're still adamant that things would be even worse under Labour or the Lib Dems!

I apologize, I didn't mean to take this in a political direction. Just stating reality. That said, I've resigned myself to the fact that its each man/woman for themselves quite some time ago. The wife and I have done the things we feel are necessary to protect ourselves and our loved ones. That's the best we can do and we're getting on with life the best we can. No sense in obsessing and ruminating on the things out of our control and that we cannot or will not change.

It makes me think of a line from a country song, "in a race you can't win, just slow it down". It's good advice when things are out of my control.

Re: Could Covid be treated more like Swine Flu now?
I know I started this thread back in January, but this morning I was wondering if Swine Flu still actually remained (and possibly still does remain) a thing from 2010 onwards; in the sense of being 'endemic', but the media (and politicians) just stopped making a big deal of it and moved onto other things?

It can't be compared because covid is not seasonal. We have a pretty bad wave right now during the summer and that's awful. People are still dying. I can't compare swine flu deaths with 15-20 covid deaths a day which is happening right now in my country. That's a huge number.
Personally, I am not calm. I was when numbers were low and I really thought that all of this is behind us but here we go again and again.

Swine Flu wasn't actually seasonal either; its first officially confirmed cases here in the UK were in late April 2009, then reached their absolute peak around July that same year, but said virus seemed to be pretty much water under the bridge by the early spring of 2010, (at least here in the UK) and barely mentioned in the news again after then.
