Re: The Inositol Guide: PsychoPoet Research Initiative
Oh, so is it ok to take mega B-50 complex and inositol at the same time? I've just noticed you said before that you take B-50 complex and inositol. I think it's only 50mg of inositol in each caplet of B-50 and that's not enough, so will start taking these and get some inositol in powder form next weekend.
Thanks for the advice :)
Re: The Inositol Guide: PsychoPoet Research Initiative
Thank you to Nic for stickying this thread! :D
Hi Masa, 50mg or less of inositol is probably how much you would get in a normal balanced diet, and I doubt this amount would be effective against clinical anxiety. Inositol tablets are 650mg each so that tells you something. (A B-vit complex with 650mg of inositol thrown in would be too big to swallow.)
The aim when taking inositol is to eventually get the substance into your brain by inputting more than your body can discard. That's why higher doses are required for treatment of clinical anxiety and clinical depression.
You don't need to take massive doses, start low and see how that helps, but I would start a lot higher than 50mg.
Re: The Inositol Guide: PsychoPoet Research Initiative
Thanks PsychoPoet, I will start taking B-50 complex now and get some Inositol powder over the weekend.
Thanks for your advice on this, you have been very helpful :)
Re: The Inositol Guide: PsychoPoet Research Initiative
Thanks Psychopoet - I will try them. I always thought that mind talking was a sympton of madness and was very embarrassed to talk about it. I can see now that it is very common amongst suffers of depression etc. I often have a much better conversation with myself than other people. Just hope I don't start talking out loud otherwise I will get worried!!! :)
Re: The Inositol Guide: PsychoPoet Research Initiative
A lot of people think mental illness and its symptoms automatically mean madness or some kind of stigma - it's time to change that.

A big hooyah to you!.

Re: The Inositol Guide: PsychoPoet Research Initiative
Just to say, I have been on a downer this week (my blips now tend to be more depression than anxiety, possibly indicating that the anxiety is being beaten) and increasing my inositol intake has coincided with my recovery from the blip. I am convinced that taking the right dose of inositol every day dampens the pain of negative thinking and frees your mind to think about better things, like blasting alien invaders in a game of UFO: Aftermath.
Re: The Inositol Guide: PsychoPoet Research Initiative
:D Hi Psychopoet - bought the inositol at weekend and have started taking them. I am also on 20mg of Citalopram for depression so it will be interesting to see if they make any difference - i hope so. Watch this space I will keep you posted. If they really work I'm surprised the doctor hasn't said anything. Sorry to hear you had a blip last week. Always here if you need a chat. :flowers:
Re: The Inositol Guide: PsychoPoet Research Initiative
Hello everyone, I have had a good week and I haven't had to take inositol. The reason I stopped is that my stomach was upset, and I am not sure whether this was due to inositol or because I ate crap literally every day for 2 weeks. However after I stopped taking inositol, I stopped having semi-diarrhea, but my stomach is still a bit off, so maybe it was half and half.
Ever since I started taking citalopram this year I seem to be vulnerable to side effects. I can't even take antacids without feeling rough.
