Crystal Therapy Advice Thread!
I frequently get asked to suggest various crystals for different circumstances etc and in this day and age of alternative therapies becoming more and more popular I thought I might have a thread whereby you can ask me any questions. What I don't know I will endeavour to find out for you. :)
You can still PM me with a question if you prefer.
The online sites I mainly use to buy crystals etc are as follows:

Hi Piglet
Thanks for those other links - Ive shopped at holisticshop a few times and love their jewellery. One of my favourites is the circular ring of crystal surrounded by silver fairies in a pendant - when ever I wear it I always get comments from people cos its unusual. Am looking forward to browsing through the other links.

Re: Crystal Therapy Advice Thread!
Hi Piglet,
Am wearing my black tourmaline (even wore it to bed) and today, believe it or not, I feel 'stronger'. I also ordered some hermatite and was strangely drawn to it, eg., kept picking it, enjoying the coolness of it and the weight. Does this mean that hermatite is the better of the two to wear?
Thanks,
Kay x

Re: Crystal Therapy Advice Thread!
Hiya
I wish I could wear haematite but it makes me dizzy and weird!!! I am wearing rose quartz today as its about self acceptance and loving yourself for who you are. Also watched "Feel good naked" last night on c4 and I must say its true - you have to stop focusing on the negatives and feel positive about yourself - self image - Im sure its part of the key to helping all of us with our fears and anxieties!> Wenjoy xx
-
Re: Crystal Therapy Advice Thread!
Hematite is just as marvellous as the black tourmaline Kay and works exactly the same way - the only thing I would say is that hematite is advised not to be worn for long periods of time so what about interchanging this one with your black tourmaline a couple of times a week, or on the days you feel need to send in the big guns!!
I rather like hematite too actually but haven't felt the need to wear it yet - smoky quartz seems to be my feeling steady and calm stone.
Dont forget to cleanse them all regularly too.
I do this either by running under the cold water tap and imagining the negativity washing away, or for my jewellery items I lay them on a crystal bed overnight.

Re: Crystal Therapy Advice Thread!
Interesting thread piglet :) .
When I went for my CBT last year , my therapist asked me about my hobbies and asked me to bring in some examples of jewellery that I make, so on the next visit I packed up a big collection for him to see and when I unpacked them infront of him his face was delighted :yesyes: .
He said "well isnt it funny, sometimes the answer to our problems is right under our nose" meaning about all the crystals I had used to make the jewellery with, lol. He said he believed in crystal healing and I should try it.
I want to make a piece of jewellery for myself with all the crystals for my needs, infact , id love to sell them to people with them choosing all the crystals they want in their braclet or necklace. Wouldnt that be a nice idea...
its just finding the time to do it:shrug: .

Re: Crystal Therapy Advice Thread!
Mirry what a splendid idea.:yesyes:
Look at all the trouble I had to go to just to get different coloured thong/cord in different lengths to attach my spiral cages to.
I have made a long dark brown suede one to hang my smoky quartz cage from and a short cerise suede one to hang a ruby in zoisite from. How much easier it would have been just to put an order through to you for one in whatever length I wanted!!
If you have a few different coloured thongs in different lengths and some spiral cages with a jump ring attached for all your different stones, it gives you no end of versatility for your wearing of different stones.
The whole reason I had to make all mine was cos I couldn't find any - and certainly not with proper fasteners on - I don't really like to just tie the cord together cos it feels so unfinished that way.
I bet loads of other people have the same problem too.

Re: Crystal Therapy Advice Thread!
Hi Piglet,
my son is sitting his exams just now (he's almost 16) and he's a bit stressed (mmm...who does he get that from I wonder......lol) Are there any crystals he could use to help him stay calm and focussed?

Re: Crystal Therapy Advice Thread!
Hi Coni,
I have two to suggest here hun.
Firstly Gold Tiger's eye which is excellent for taking anysort of tests or exams as it helps you take action using reason rather than emotion.
Secondly I suggest a clear quartz - clear quartz is always a great start to any crystal collection, or if you only ever get one crystal then that's the one to get as it's the master healer.
Also it would be good for him to start handling the crystals, or having them around while he's revising so they sort of get to know each other - I know that sounds abit woolly but you honestly do build up a bit of affection to certain crystals and this really helps when you need them most.
I'm like this with a cluster of smoky quartz - at first I was abit blah about it but now I've had it for a couple of years it sort of feels like going back to an old friend and a comforting one at that.
He can always keep them in his trouser pocket if he's too conscious to have them out on the desk or anything - mind you there will be a few there with their lucky pens or rabbits feet type thing (or like me with the answers written on your arm - only joking)!!
Neither of the above stones are hard to get and pretty inexpensive.
Wishing him all the best with it.

Re: Crystal Therapy Advice Thread!
Thanks Piglet,
He's got Maths today so I'll give him the clear quartz....theres one in the starter set I bought....I'll log on to the website you recommended and look for the gold tigers eye, think I could be doing with some of that myself....though I still like the hematite.

Re: Crystal Therapy Advice Thread!
Piglet , because my panic attacks have come back with a vengance, what different crystals do you think would be ideal for the anxeity sufferer ?
I am thinking of making anti anxiety jewellery using all the different gems to give max benifit.
Id need some for courage.
calming.
energy.
Love.
and any others u can think of fot anxiety......
I will then start to collect the crystals to make bracelets...not only for myself but any one else who would like one..perhaps ebay too ?
I cant belive the shop prices for these things and could make them alot cheaper and more for specific problems like anxiety.
what do you think ?

Re: Crystal Therapy Advice Thread!
Hi mirry
what a good idea. I often makes jewellery from gemstones for myself (not to sell because I wouldn't be brave enough). People often say you should choose stones you are drawn to, then look them up and see what they say they mean. It's quite interesting.
I am massively into labradorite - I would be interested to know its meaning because I love it.
Best of luck with anything you find out - there's a good Dorling Kindersley book on gemstones on amazon that you might be able to buy or get from the library

Re: Crystal Therapy Advice Thread!
Its funny cos 14 years ago , I used to make and sell gem trees in a local card shop.......I used to get so many orders and make lots of money too :yesyes: .
I used to have a card with all the different meanings to each tree and I used to also do craft fairs and sell gem stones too. I remember reading the one about Love and fertility ROSE QUARTZ so I stuck some under my pillow cos my hubby and I had been trying for a baby for 1 year, well it worked straight away lol :winks: .
Today My hubby drove me to the shop I started putting my jewellery in, and I have sold 7 items , one of them was a rose quartz necklace.
But I really like the idea of making special ones for anxiety.
You could sell your stuff, why dont you ? If I can do it so can you !

Re: Crystal Therapy Advice Thread!
I was just wondering what your thoughts are on Rainbow Obsidian Piglet? :]
-
Re: Crystal Therapy Advice Thread!
Folks I will be back on later today as I have to go out now and will reply in full then.
Mirry the only thing I would say is that wearing too many crystals at once can confuse the issue and contradict each other - so it may be best to work on what the most problematic issue is first!! Sodalite is the one for panic attacks!!
Be back later! :flowers:

Re: Crystal Therapy Advice Thread!
I wondered if it could make it difficult but when Ive looked online alot of shops sell crystal bracelets containing different stones for anxiety and panic ?
I will look into getting some sodalite to make a bracelt for myself and others.
Today I have worn some rose quartz earrings that I made last night and Ive been calmer today. I found them sitting in my bead box so made good use of them.

Re: Crystal Therapy Advice Thread!
Rainbow Obsidian
I must admit to not having this type of obsidian in my collection as yet but I am most certainly going to look out for one. Obsidians are powerful strong stones and I haven't felt a need to use even the ones I do have yet either.
It is said that like all rainbow stones it has the power to grant wishes and can turn around misfortune, or a run of bad luck. This is why it is nice as a lucky charm type of stone.
Also excellent for cleansing the aura - I want to see one now to see if it actually has a look of labradorite with the oil on water thing going on or whether its more of a stripey effect!
Mirry - you can often buy chakra bracelets which are a mixture of stones, but I prefer to actually balance my chakras by placing the correct colour of crystal on the body in the appropriate place and laying down for 5 mins once or twice a week. Then on other days I just select the crystal I am drawn to or need to, and wear as jewellery.
What about using one particular stone as the theme and then adding in chips of the same stone to create a more interesting mix - or adding in smaller wooden beads, silver or glass beads and making the actual gemstone the feature. This wouldn't compromise either the look of the jewellery or its effectiveness. I have a lovely sodalite necklace on a thong that is made more detailed by doing just that.
When Karen and I visited a castle on Saturday they had a lovely little gift shop with some pretty jewellery in a glass display and I immediatley thought of you and said to Karen what a great setting for Mirry's jewellery!:yesyes:

Re: Crystal Therapy Advice Thread!
Wow thankyou for that Piglet! :] If i bought it as a bracelet would it be too strong to wear constantly then? Apart from when im in bed of course!

Re: Crystal Therapy Advice Thread!
When I first starting wearing new crystals I did it a day at a time and then gave myself a gap of a day or two and then tried it again etc.
I do this over a period of say a month and if I don't feel a connection I cleanse it and put it away again, as it could be its not the right time for that particular crystal and I won't be drawing any benefit from wearing it because its qualites are not beneficial to me at this time.
I should do the same hun with the rainbow obsidian and then perhaps after wearing it for awhile let us know what you think.
Crystals are such a personal thing and are aids to help us help ourselves etc - I most definately feel a bond with some and not with others though.
Despite having quite a large selection of crystals now, time and time again I am drawn back to the same ones. Sometimes it is better to work well with a few than less effectively with more!!

Re: Crystal Therapy Advice Thread!
I managed to get some sodalite beads today in different sizes and they are really attractive !!! Now Im thinking of making myself a bracelet and maybe some earrings ? When I picked up the sodalite I did feel a connection,,,infact I felt anxious walking in the shop on my own and I asked straight away If they had any sodalite and as soon as I touched it I felt calm (is that normal?).
ALso managed to get some, flourite/moonstone and some rose quartz pendants, also the dalmation one.
The cheapest way to make it into jewellery is earrings however I am interested in bracelets. Do you think thats a great idea Piglet ?
Note: If anyone wants something made for them to help with their anxiety I dont mind making up an item for you , cos the shops are soooooooo expensive it seems ?
-
Re: Crystal Therapy Advice Thread!
Mirry hun - I should make it into whatever appeals to you mate and no it's not at all surprising that you had that reaction to the sodalite. I was just the same the first time I touched snowy quartz. I took longer to connect with my smoky quartz though but once I did then I really did!!!:yesyes:

Re: Crystal Therapy Advice Thread!
Hi,
I don't want any advice on crystals but I just wanted to say I find this all interesting!
Except....would there be a good crystal to give to a pregnant person? you know? Something calming or for labour or something? I thought it might make a good gift for my doc who is leaving to have a baby. Introduce the scientific mind to the unscientific???

Re: Crystal Therapy Advice Thread!
Hi Piglet
Went into a small town crystal shop today and had quite a lengthy chat with the owner. I told her my problem and she agreed that hermatite and black tourmaline were the crystals I should go with. She also told me to buy some amethyist but I can't remember why now (lol) and also some stones with 'angel hair' in (agan, can't remember why).
She 'threw in' for free a bundle of sage (I think it's called a smudgie) and I have to light this bundle and walk through the smoke which will also cleanse the crystals I bought.
Regarding my problem, she advised me to put pointed things in the window pointing outwards and to buy, if I can, an eye(?). At this point she was talking about being in Turkey where they wear the 'eye'. I should put this eye in the window.
Would appreciate your opinion on this Piglet.
Thanks
Kay x

Re: Crystal Therapy Advice Thread!
Hi ya Kay hun,
I will investigate the 'eye' thing further and see what I come up with. The only thing that I am thinking is that she meant a 'cats eye'!
The smudging is all fine - I tend not to use this as a method of cleansing for anything, as I like to keep things as simple as possible. I either use the running water method, or place my stones in a tibetian singing bowl.
The crystals you already have will be doing their job of protection just fine mate - try not to let fear overcome your normal commonsense.
Like us all our anxiety gets a focus and then we can't seem to shift our mindset on it and I think this is what has happened here. Sure you are picking up negative vibes (and who wouldn't) but commonsense and your extra protection and encouragement of your crystals will aid you to see this situation for what it is.
Big hugs.

Re: Crystal Therapy Advice Thread!
I have made up a Tigers eye heart necklace today and its just fantastic !!!
The Tigers eye heart is about 1 1/2 " its really thick and chunky and rich in colour ,
It threads from one side of the heart to the other and Ive placed it on a Dark brown matching leather cord.
mmm should I sell it or keep it ??? I absolutely love it.
-
Re: Crystal Therapy Advice Thread!
I've just come on to add somemore to answer Kay's question and how funny that you should talk about Tigers Eye Mirry, as that is one I wanted to mention again. I should keep this one for yourself my lovely! :yesyes:
Kay - I think the lady at the crystal shop probably did mean 'Cats Eye' (Chrysoberyl) as it can be said to protect against the evil eye. It's not always easy to find a cats eye that hasn't been artificially coloured but an associated crystal would be Tigers Eye and Hawks Eye (blue).
We've already discussed on the thread how Tigers Eye is good for exams etc but not that it also is good against ill wishing and curses etc.
Quote
" Carry one when you are facing a potential verbal, mental or psychic attack by someone in a position of power or who has some emotional influence over you. Breathe in the golden light and allow it to create the aura of a tiger so all will turn back from attempting harm. Tigers eye will stop you feeling spooked by powerful energies or ghosts"
I would continue to use the Black Tourmaline and the Hematite but there is no reason why you can't add a nice piece of Tigers eye to your collections too. Often with crystals you have to find the ones that connect with you so you could see how you feel with Tigers eye couldn't you.
I also think she mentioned Amethyst because most crystal lovers will start with a nice cluster/geode of this in their home - a cluster or geode can look so attractive with all its sparkly purpleness. I bought one for my daughter when she moved into her new flat as a way of keeping the vibes positive in the room it was in.
It would be a nice one to have if you got a flat bed cluster as at the end of the day you can rest any of the other crystals you have been wearing or using on it and it will cleanse them for you.
Just remember not to put amethyst in direct sunlight as it can fade it.
I seem to remember 'Living Designs' had some nice clusters etc.
I like using an amethyst tumblestone on my forehead when I have a headache!
Hope some of this helps - feel free to ask any other questions. :yesyes:

Re: Crystal Therapy Advice Thread!
Paddington, Ive also made a flourite pandant necklace, its a very attractive pendant, it has a look of amethyst in it but with clearer and darker shades.
Today whilst at the doctors I sat down next to a lady who was wearing a long necklace containing just about every sort of gem stone on it !
I had to make a comment about it cos it looked fantastic and must of been worth alot of money.
Im making a snowflake obsidion and heamatite bracelet at the moment, they seem to go well together visually and hopefully in the healing way too ?
I will try to get photos of them done if hubby gets time to take them and if I can remember my photobox pass word, lol.
-
Re: Crystal Therapy Advice Thread!
Well Flourite can have different qualities depending on the colour you've been drawn to but in general it stimulates the 'free spirit' inside us all and can help us be inventive and creative etc and not to think in a small minded way.
Physically its said to help us with stiffness and joint problems eg; arthritis and interestingly here it is also said to help with the nervous system with psychosomatic allergies being relieved or alleviated. I find that bit interesting cos I wonder sometimes how much anxiety has brought about a tendency to allergies that I didn't particularly have before.
What colours were you both drawn to I wonder???

Re: Crystal Therapy Advice Thread!
Sodalight is suppposed to help with panic bev, Piglet told me this so I rushed out to get some straight away !
I am wearing it as a bracelet and when I feel wobbly I start playing with it on my wrist.
I find myslef drawn to dalmation jasper alot, no idea why ?
-
Re: Crystal Therapy Advice Thread!
Bev - as Mirry has said Sodalite is the first one to try for panic attacks.
You know what I would do if I were you, I would go with the intention of getting a nice piece of Sodalite either as a tumblestone or in the form of jewellery and then promise yourself one more stone as a treat.
Ask them in the shop if you can browse (crystal shop owners are usually very understanding people and will be full of advice if you need it etc) and then either be guided by eye as to what appeals to you, or if you don't feel silly then let your hand wander over the stones and see if any particular stone 'pull's you.
Intially I was drawn to all blue stones and then to yellow but so far my 2 most valuable (in terms of use) are smoky quartz and snowy quartz.
Please do tell us your experience cos I find it so interesting - I love all my crystals and now have special storage for them, I honestly am as happy as a pig in mud having an afternoon playing with them all!! :yesyes:
