Excessive Gas, Stomach Noises and toilet Changes What Is it?
Past few days to a week, I've had a bit of stomach and toilet issues. Not sure what from, excessive gas, which is accompanied by stomach gurgling noises, and my bowel movements have been up and down the past few days to a week, it started with a loose stool (not runny), then it was very hard to about the same now, but stomach cramps from it too. Not sure what's going on? A little worried.
I'm 32, female, hypothyroid, don't drink or smoke, don't eat red meat, don't drink any lemonades, mostly water, but not sure if its a food thing causing this, or something serious like a bacterial thing?
It's very uncomfortable and makes me worried what to eat, and if I'm going to get diarrhea or something. Is it something serious?
I suffer with anxiety and depression, but not sure if this would contribute to it, I've been dealing with a lot of stress in my personal life as well, so this isn't helping.

Stress can cause all these symptoms, I've had your symptoms many times. You already have an autoimmune condition (hypothroid) so it could be IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) which isn't serious, just a nuisance. You may have a bacterial issue, so if it continues see your Dr. It could be any number of things maybe Helicobactor Pylori, which you can be tested for and treated. It's not serious and is treated with antibiotics and omeprazole. I had it 16 years ago.

Re: Excessive Gas, Stomach Noises and toilet Changes What Is it?
Yeah, you're probably right, it seems a bit easier today just mostly gurgling sounds, but I'm trying to see what foods may be causing it and cutting out stuff to find something. Hopefully it will ease a bit, and I have been abnormally stressed past couple months as well. Thanks!

Re: Excessive Gas, Stomach Noises and toilet Changes What Is it?
Had another bad bout today, only one. It's never like bad diarrhea, it starts off with bad stomach cramps, and when I do go the toilet, it's more just soft rather than diarrhea, loose but it is hard to go when I do feel the need. I always get worried on the weekend because can't get to the doctors if it's a bacterial thing. I'm drinking water throughout the day, at least a litre or so.
I just feel groggy and tired, and worn out, so this isn't helping either. That's the 3rd time in the last week or so I've had this cramping and then soft stools, day after its usually quite hard and solid, sometimes a little sharp, well, you get what I mean! It's also the week I'm suppose to be getting my periods, so not sure if that's contributing to it as I have PCOS as well?

Re: Excessive Gas, Stomach Noises and toilet Changes What Is it?
I don't know if the readings are correct on my wrist blood pressure, but they seem really high, I just took it several times and its reading systolic 120/130 and Diastolic over 90 to nearly a 100?? I'm starting to really panic about this, this is serious right? My temperature isn't high 97.1-2. and my heart rate is between 70-90's?
Why is my blood pressure so high? I'm getting really panicky about this, and feel like I'm getting hot flushes?
Does this have to do with me reducing my 10mg Propranolol to every 2nd day instead of every day?

Re: Excessive Gas, Stomach Noises and toilet Changes What Is it?
Was just around at my out of hours doctor, about my stomach and what not. He examined my stomach, took my pulse, blood pressure and said they were fine, just had a lot of stomach noises so sounded like a gastric problem. No temperature.
He gave me two tablets if my tummy got really painful, but if not theirs no need to take them, and to take some Diorlyte I think its called? Like a powder you mix into water, hydrates and electrolytes so it might help the viral thing. He said it wasn't ringing any red flags, sounded gastric and to keep hydrated, pulse, temp and BP were all fine he said.
Beside that, temples of my head are so tense and sore, think from working myself up from my home BP reading, and it completely set me off. Way to start my birthday! So exhausted, sorry, wanted to update you, still having tummy noises and such.

Re: Excessive Gas, Stomach Noises and toilet Changes What Is it?
Having another bout of loud bowel noises, followed by cramps and a lot of gas. Not sure what food could be causing it, but last few days I've had this what I would describe as (a aching or full/pressing I don't know how to describe it sensation) in my upper left side under my rib area. I don't get it a lot but thought it might have been my spleen inflammed perhaps?
It comes and goes throughout the day, mostly when I'm sitting or it gives that funny bone sensation when I'm laying in bed on my right side, can feel it a little achy or uncomfortable, not terribly just noticeable to me. I don't know, just thought it was to do with my spleen or something?
-
Re: Excessive Gas, Stomach Noises and toilet Changes What Is it?
Basically what you and dozens and dozens of others have described is what I've been living with since treatment. It is what it is. I take some OTC remedies to try and stabilize it but I still have ups and downs. Kind of an inconvenience sometimes but it's all part of the new normal after treatment. I have a reason for my issues as do you. While we share the same physical symptoms, one is medical in nature and the other psychological. And while my physical issues are permanent, you're in an envious position with your age and physical health, to address your mental health. It's been years Mischa. Take a stand against the dragon and give him some hell for a change!

Re: Excessive Gas, Stomach Noises and toilet Changes What Is it?
If you have autoimmune conditions (which you have with hypothyroidism) then you really should be on a gluten free diet. I started this diet 2 weeks ago and my stomach & bowels issues have been so much better, worth a try.
-
Re: Excessive Gas, Stomach Noises and toilet Changes What Is it?
@Fishmanpa Hi! Yeah, I'm hyper focusing on everything I know, which is probably not helping all the noises and cramps and side pains as well! I'll try cut out a few things from my diet to see if it makes any changes and go from there, and if the left side discomfort persists this week, I'll just see the doc about it and get it checked, I could only think of my spleen on that side, but sitting positions and leaning certain ways and so on probably aren't helping that either. I'll try to stop burning myself from that inner dragon lol!
-
Re: Excessive Gas, Stomach Noises and toilet Changes What Is it?
@WiseMonkey Yeah, I've heard about doing the gluten free. I'm a bit broke at the moment, so will try get the basic GF foods like pastas and some bread, and try a few foods to cut out that may be causing it as well. Worth a try anyway as you said!

Go easy on the carbohydrates, eat mainly protein, vegetables, salad and fruit. I have G/F porridge (quinoa) or G/F weetbix for breakfast, the the rest is mainly protein and low density carbs, good luck with it.
-
Re: Excessive Gas, Stomach Noises and toilet Changes What Is it?
@WiseMonkey I will try that from tomorrow, had another bad bowel bout today and didn't even eat anything out of the ordinary but got the same old cramps, but instead of loose bowel movement, I got an uncomfortable solid one, and followed by foul smells, so I think theirs upset in my stomach but not sure what the cause of it or where it's coming from. So, I think I'll change to a bland diet and cut down massively and see how it helps in anyway, and add food, and then what may trigger it also.

Re: Excessive Gas, Stomach Noises and toilet Changes What Is it?
Well, last couple of days, I've had very (excuse me) "hard" bowel movements, it feels like - passing a lego, if want for a better description. Now, I don't want to get into a panic, but I'm not sure if it's because the movement is very hard or if its coming from inside, but I notice some blood on my stool and paper, and unsure if its coming from it passing or inside like I said? I'm not getting as much stomach cramps, not as bad as a couple weeks back.
Yeah, not sure what's causing this very hard movement, but it's uncomfortable, and again, no change to my diet, but my diet has been packed with lots of healthy stuff, but I'm starting to get back to eating better, I've just been very depressed lately, and sleeping is all over the place and finding it hard, which is causing a constant eye twitch/flickering, which is leaving me feel very drained.

Well, based on the above, your diet has changed lately...and for the better :). Of course you can get a little constipated. We all do from time to time, diet or not. Just don't be building castles with those legos please! :roflmao:

Re: Excessive Gas, Stomach Noises and toilet Changes What Is it?
Haha! No, definitely not! :D Yeah, I'm going to try for a few days to try stick to a scheduled diet, and a few same foods and see if it helps or doesn't and go from there.

Re: Excessive Gas, Stomach Noises and toilet Changes What Is it?
I'm having another bout of this bowel issue, started yesterday. Consistency started yesterday hard, but soon went soft, and today it's very soft and loose, and have lots of cramping before I go. It's also yellow/light brownish, and foul smelling.
Because I've had a couple of bouts of this over the last few weeks, I'm feeling very anxious about it, all that you find online just says about pancreatic cancers, colon cancers and more frightening things, which hasn't helped me really, especially because it says yellow stools are a medical emergency, so I'm a little freaked out over it now.
I'm tired too, but I don't know if that's related, but I have a lot of gas, and get bad bowel cramps that tells me I need to go soon, and just uncomfortable. It's very stressful, and I also had some blood tests done for my thyroid yesterday, think she did a full blood count, so little worried what might show up on them. So, this toilet issue is causing me some distress with worry and stuff about those cancers and other serious things.

Re: Excessive Gas, Stomach Noises and toilet Changes What Is it?
Sounds like a combination of IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and stress. IBS has periods of loose stools and then constipation. PCOS is likely another autoimmune condition which can go with IBS. My daughter has both plus stomach issues (which can be a part of IBS).
-
Re: Excessive Gas, Stomach Noises and toilet Changes What Is it?
Yeah, I'm having ups and downs of stress lately, so my eating hasn't been great, as in not the healthiest stuff, some days are good and then some days are so chaotic it can be hard so it's the easy options. I'm drinking plenty of water to keep hydrated and try cut down a bit and get back on a better eating regime and see if it helps in anyway. Very stressful though, which I suppose doesn't help towards it either!
-
Re: Excessive Gas, Stomach Noises and toilet Changes What Is it?
I have it at present also ... so try some herbal drinks like chamomile tea also slippery elm powder in hot water. I also have some Peptisoothe liquid (prescription only) which helps stomach acid.

Re: Excessive Gas, Stomach Noises and toilet Changes What Is it?
Sorry to hear your having something similar, it's so distressing! Going to watch what I eat to see if it will help, hope yours gets better soon too!

Re: Excessive Gas, Stomach Noises and toilet Changes What Is it?
Just wanted to ask, but would my stomach cramps or pains, and toilet troubles, they wouldn't be down to an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm would they?
I happened to speak to a friend about my issues and they mentioned that, and well, when you look it up it's pretty dangerous and serious and frightening, so trying not to get myself too freaked out about more stuff.
-
Re: Excessive Gas, Stomach Noises and toilet Changes What Is it?
No they wouldn’t. That’s one of those immediate things isn’t it? You wouldn’t miss those signs.
Stress always affects your digestive system, I’d be surprised if you didn’t have reflux or ibs.

Re: Excessive Gas, Stomach Noises and toilet Changes What Is it?
Also, how mean is your friend for even suggesting such a thing, does she know you at all!! [emoji23]
-
Re: Excessive Gas, Stomach Noises and toilet Changes What Is it?
I know I know! She didn't think of it, it was in relation to someone she knew, and then brought it up and I didn't say anything, tried to ignore it! Yeah, I know you're probably right, and I've enough things to worry about, still have gastric/bowel movements etc, still have my red itchy patch behind my left knee, so I still have stuff I'm worrying, which is mot likely exacerbating them as well, and causing me to feel rough and tired too.
I'll try avoid those conversations in future! Tummy cramps and gastric stuff is probably an IBS thing or digestive, as I am very stressed and up tight a lot of late, and that's not helping, so, definitely a couple worries!

Re: Excessive Gas, Stomach Noises and toilet Changes What Is it?
I was at the doctors a couple weeks back, about my blood tests, which were normal, except for low iron (I think he said ferratin or something), and that was it. I also explained about my gas, bowel issues I've talked about here, he felt my stomach and I told him about my stools, the discomfort when passing gas, or when needing to go the toilet, he said about fibre, and upping my fibre and avoiding foods etc.
But, I know I shouldn't have but looking online about this and what I could do, one pointed out about ''red warning signs with IBS symptoms'' and one of them was (anemia - lower iron) and nightime stuff, which I suffer badly with falling asleep or jumping up feeling like my stomach suddenly jumps as well or weird sensations here and there, and now it has me a bit panicked that their some sort of red warning sign along with my gas, stomach discomfort, and bowel issues.
I also explained how I can go one day, and then maybe not go for two days, and it varies like that, which is why he suggested fibre.
I'm feeling very upset about all this, and worrying it's something serious and it's making me really panicky and anxious. I don't know, it's just causing me a lot of distress about what's going on. I'm finding it impossible to try be 'calm' or relax about this, cause I'm thinking the worst stuff.
At the moment, my bowel issue is hard, and hurts when passing, like a burning sensation. I don't get any blood, only once a couple days ago, but that could have been from the passing of my stools. The color hasn't changed though, it's still like that browny/yellow color, so I don't know how to feel about that and am uptight and tense about all of this.
I'm starting to think of all sorts of things like Pancreatic cancer, tumors or something unknown and it's really quite exhausting. I'm drinking plenty of water, and my diet could be better but I do eat a fair amount of vegetables and have fruit here and there, I think my only vice is having a little too much chocolate on a daily basis. I don't drink, smoke, eat red meat and other than being fairly sedentary (beside an hourly walk a day with my dogs), I don't know but it has me very on edge and stressed to the maximum now.
Sorry for ranting, but it's just been having me feel very worried.
-
Re: Excessive Gas, Stomach Noises and toilet Changes What Is it?
So, what have you done since the appointment to increase your fiber intake and what foods have you discovered and eliminated to help prevent symptoms?
Positive thoughts
-
Re: Excessive Gas, Stomach Noises and toilet Changes What Is it?
I've just added more vegetables really, my only vice is that I eat chocolate everyday (maybe a little too much of it, maybe as a stress relief). I'm very low on money so it's been hard to buy better foods as their expensive, so theirs a limit to the really good stuff I can buy. I'm not eating that much white bread, My breakfasts are here or there, it's mainly snacks during the day, then a dinner and then the chocolate at night, that's about it. I know my lifestyle is quite sedentary as well, but not sure if that is a contributor or not.
It has me wracking my brain to be honest. I know my diet can always be better, but I do try get in some veg everyday, and I got some bananas and brazil nuts, I'm trying to find more fibre rich foods to add to my diet. I haven't really eliminated anything in particular, as in a specific group, I don't eat much dairy beside the chocolate, I drink only water (about a litre to two litres a day), and I eat some salmon when I can afford it, and chicken as well. So, I do get a good bit of fibre but not sure.

So essentially 'nothing' :lac: Sorry, but it's BS that it costs more to eat healthy and a container of Miralax fiber additive (I take a dose every day) won't break the bank. Your eating habits and lifestyle are a contributing factor as well in your digestive issues. Bottom line you have a choice... Continue doing the same things and keep getting the same results or start to make the changes necessary to address them

But you’ve had blood tests and they were fine.
So you now need to look at your stress levels, not just diet.

mischa, did you have antibiotics at any point this year? you describe what i had after i took some

Re: Excessive Gas, Stomach Noises and toilet Changes What Is it?
I'm not sure if this is related to bowel issues or anything, but does anyone know what stinging in your chest area is? It's like a sharp stinging sensation, lasts a few seconds and goes. Usually happens a short while after having something to eat, it's really freaking me out. I usually get a stinging or small discomfort in my stomach, but at the moment, I'm sometimes getting it in my chest area in the middle.
I've been hearing a lot about Bowel Cancer lately and it has me worried about my own bowel issues. Last couple weeks my bowel movements have been a little all over the place. I go on average at least once a day, but sometimes the bowel movements can be quite large, then its been quite soft. Also with the gas as well, which is just stressing me out further because I'm thinking about cancers now.
Today wasn't so bad, not much cramps or discomfort, but did have one bout of that stinging pain my chest area, and as soon as I do, I feel anxious and fretting. Not sure what to think it is? I'm drinking plenty of water at the moment, and often get that horrible 'sloshy' sound in my stomach when I do.
Sometimes I even get scared its a heart problem or whatever else.
Anyone experience this, or similar? I honestly feel exhausted all the time, but not sure if that is all other factors in my life, like lack of sleep, or just not sleeping at the right time. Not enough nutrients in my diet, even though its better now, but still needs improvement. And other things, just not having any time to myself or quietness.
Anyway, I'm just feeling a bit fretty and agitated about this whole bowel cancer thing, and other worries about these sensations I'm having.
Btw, I've no blood in my stools, I've not lost weight (entirely the opposite, trying not to put any more weight on).
I am tired/drained, bowel movements vary from solid normal, to quite soft or large, cramps caused by gas maybe, having gas, belching too. not always, but sometimes when I belch too hard, I feel either food or liquid come back up and it burns or feels very acidy (if thats a right way to describe it!), but yeah, that is kind of gross.

I wanted to reply because your entire post is EXACTLY what I am experiencing at the moment. Genuinely feel like I could have written it. Even down to the acid burning taste which happened the first time today... also I am 32, no blood, weight GAIN etc so yeah.
Despite that bloody dragon, I know that I have been here before. Many many a time. I just need to look back at my previous threads over the years!
I find probiotics helped the last time this happened to me. So I am going to start them again... along with going back to the gym since it’s now reopened!

Re: Excessive Gas, Stomach Noises and toilet Changes What Is it?
Yesterday I had terrible stomach cramps, that turned into a ''gotta get to a toilet now'' situation, and my toilet was like 7 on the Bristol Stool scale. I wouldn't say it was entirely watery, but it came out pretty fast. No strange colour though, no blood, dark brown but boy it was a rush situation.
Today I had some cramping, not as bad, had mild 'stinging' pains in my upper stomach area. My bowel movement was a 6 on the Bristol scale, not as watery but still not solid. Without being gross, it was 'slushy'. Still a normal brown colour, no blood.
Been drinking lots of water though, and just eating less today, more so out of fear of needing to rush to the toilet when I was getting groceries today. Only gone the twice this morning, and not had much 'stinging' pain but having some tonight, so not sure what's causing that feeling. It's probably the one sensation that unsettles me the most. I know I may seem a little over active on the anxiety front about certain things, but I genuinely do fret about them, like this whole bowel cancer stuff, or whatever other things.
I do have quite a bit of stress on a daily basis with a few things, and it probably doesn't help with things. Today I finally got time to myself to just relax without noise and other things.
Yeah, so my bowel movement this last day or two has been off, slight diarrhea, not sure why. Before that as I stated above, was having that 'stinging' pain in my upper stomach area, which is the unsettling part. My BM had been all right, sometimes it was slightly larger than normal, then it would vary slightly, but yeah, yesterday and today was a rough day, which made me feel a bit off, drained and a little anxious about stuff like the bowel cancer stuff.
-
Re: Excessive Gas, Stomach Noises and toilet Changes What Is it?
Is there a reason why you'd have a bowel movement late at night? I don't often get bowel movements at night but sometimes I do, and I read it is due to an infection? Not sure how true that is.
Today I haven't had a bowel movement since yesterday, and I've only got that sharp, stinging pain later this evening after I finished eating for the day. I don't eat past 8pm. It's the one symptom that is the most distressing to me. I'm worried if it is an infection, will it get worse? Turn into Sepsis? I don't know, but my anxiety is high with it.
I didn't have much stinging/sharp symptoms in my upper abdominal area (sometimes up near my chest area in the middle), up until later this afternoon/evening. My brain can't switch off at the moment to these worries. It's just distressing me really, and all the talk of bowel cancer, infections and such have me a little tense from it because I've had these symptoms for the last week or so.

Mischa,
I’m having a lot of issues with my guts, have been since March. Have a look in line at Symprove. I keep recommending this and must add that I do not have any affiliation with the company. I’m a month and a week in and must say, though I’m still bloated and a few other symptoms, I’m not get anymore cramping and my mindset is so much more rational, how it should and use to be. Read the reviews too.
