I really don't mean to seem rude, I'm still pretty new here so I don't know if this is an issue you have had before.
If your worried about clean clothes being near the dirty ones could you not just wash it all together and know for sure it's all clean?

Yes that's true but it's a new shirt and wanted a new feeling perfectly uncreased for the party I'm going to.
The scenario this time is it never went near dirty washing but a single thought trigger caused my anxiety it doesn't always need to have actually happened
Re: OCD about wash basket
The fact is that your new shirt is clean. The thought is that it isn't.
You could waste money you don't have to buy a new shirt but the pattern of OCD behaviour will be repeated or you could not go to the party because you can't be sure your shirt isn't perfect (whatever that means to you). Is it worth missing the party because of an OCD fear?
My daughter has these internal struggles too.
Re: OCD about wash basket
Where did you get it from? If you really can't overcome this fear, return the shirt and get a refund. You can then buy another one. I do this all the time, but for different OCD thoughts.

I've got myself in a pickle
If I return it I won't buy anything out the shop again..
If I wear the shirt I previously worried a few days ago the ties were dirty but went on to worry about the shirt instead.
I've tried smelling it to reassure myself it's clean. I may have to wear the shirt but I fear my iron will be dirty and iron board.
I can't win really I know it's clean but OCD makes you feel it's dirty and it makes you feel all unclean and unrelaxed. I just have thought it went near dirty washing no evidence of it and that's enough to set my anxiety off..
Re: OCD about wash basket
I know you've tried a lot of meds but haven't you found any of them to be effective for your OCD? Must be terrible having to live with this constant worry of contamination.
Re: OCD about wash basket
Meds don't really touch OCD for some people

Re: OCD about wash basket
I'm worried about when I have a family it would like pull washing out the basket and I would have to throw stuff away as the towels could have toilet germs in it and the towels are wet so either I have to not get towels wet, maybe get a wash basket with a lid and pin it down or keep existing one but I'm not sure what would happen if they would be in at wash baskets? It's in my spare room don't have anywhere else for it..
