Shedding Light on Health Anxiety OCD - the best article I've ever read!
I've read so many articles about health anxiety, but I feel this doctor really gets what it's like. That's it's so much more than worrying about imaginary illness. She talks about compulsive checking, the weight of responsibility to find the illness you think you have early enough, the need to Google, gives the best example of disordered thinking and so much more.
Personally I've bookmarked this and am going to read it every day!

I found this interesting as they use the term 'responsibility for.....' throughout the article, and that is essentially the issue we see on the HA forum isn't it, an inability to trust and believe others, to believe tests and all those 'what ifs'. I've never thought of it as feeling 'responsibility' for matters relating to health and saving yourself. I'm not quite sure what I'm getting at, but thanks for posting it :)

That’s a great article and very well written.
I do find the responsibility exhausting. Not so much around me, but for my daughter and partner.
I also didn’t realise, until I joined this forum, that I had so many different types of anxiety and that they all had a name!

I've managed to put a check on my HA but find that having responsibility for everything in my own life just makes my OCD/ED issues so much stronger and more powerful.

Thankyou. This article sums me up perfectly! Now to just learn to observe a thought and move on.
