Really heavy bleeding and clots during period
Ever since I had my son (4 years ago) my periods have been really heavy. My gyno says this is normal. Today I woke up with so much blood gushing out and my tampon was soaked and had big clots. I know my dr said heavy bleeding can be normal after giving birth, but today seems especially bad. I'm even more worried because I am on vacation away from home. Do I need to go to the hospital? Also I have health anxiety so that doesn't help. I just want to enjoy the last day of vacation but I'm afraid that something is terribly wrong.
Re: Really heavy bleeding and clots during period
Nothing wrong hon, just a heavy period. It's normal to have clots and for a tampon to be soaked through if you've had it in all night.
Tbh I haven't used tampons since my baby, have gone back to the pads-might suit you better if your flow is that heavy?
Enjoy your last day-have a margherita for me! :yesyes:
Re: Really heavy bleeding and clots during period
Thanks for replying. It's already a little better. Should I be worried about passing out? I can't imagine it's good to lose all that blood. Maybe I'll get an iron supplement.
Re: Really heavy bleeding and clots during period
I think you only lose around 2 tablespoons of blood each period-it just tends to look more, so you should be fine

Re: Really heavy bleeding and clots during period
WHAT? 2 tablespoons?
Jeez, mine must be really heavy then.
I always have to double up on super plus tampons and pads. Mine pours out of me! And I have to get up during the night to change!

Re: Really heavy bleeding and clots during period
Well I survived the day. Haha. It was much better throughout the day and I even relaxed and enjoyed myself. Hopefully tomorrow morning won't look like a horror movie! Thanks for your help!
Re: Really heavy bleeding and clots during period
It really does look like more blood because it is mixed with discharge, etc. Just like how vials of blood look like a lot but it's only a few teaspoons worth. I wouldn't worry about passing out unless you were incredibly anemic.
I have to use OB Ultra tampons for at least one day out of every period... Super's aren't enough otherwise!
Re: Really heavy bleeding and clots during period
Thanks for the reply. Maybe I'll look into OB ultra. This was a month ago and I didn't pass out, so that's good.
