Worried about amyloidosis
Hi, I’m really worried I might have AL amyloidosis. I have teeth marks all around my tongue (scalloped tongue?) and I’m convinced it’s enlarged which is why I have teeth marks. Thyroid is normal and no vitamin deficiencies. I also have problems swallowing small dry foods, like small bits of rice or small pieces of fruit. I have to swallow them a couple of times or drink some water with them.
Has anyone had this and it not been a deadly disease with a terrible prognosis? I’m female and 32.
Thanks in advance!
Re: Worried about amyloidosis
Yeah I don’t even know what that is lol and not planning to look it up anytime soon. :roflmao:
but, to answer your question, yes I do have issues like that on occasion. Tiny things like rice seem like they should go down fine but sometimes they just get stuck. Take a drink of water, all will be well! I think everyone has experienced this at some point.

Never heard of this one and won't Google it either as it will give me some other rare illness to worry about. I have a problem with swallowing vitamin pills where I feel they are stuck? Had this for as long as I remember
Re: Worried about amyloidosis
I always have teeth marks around my tongue. I think that's pretty common. It's also normal to get stuff stuck in your throat sometimes, especially if you're anxious.
Re: Worried about amyloidosis
I have obvious tooth marks around my tongue, always have. If you are a jaw clencher its likely the cause as it makes you push your tongue to the sides of your teeth. Or, maybe like me you have a tendency to push your tongue to the roof of your mouth and against your teeth whilst sitting doing nothing much.

This is anxiety. The moment you 'think' about swallowing you can't do it, its meant to be an automatic process but by focusing on it you remove that automation.

Try to find some more rare disease....You just don't have that cancer.
