How normal is it to feel food going down?
Is it totally normal?
I may be being super hypersensitive to my body but anxiety makes us question everything.
I'm basically feeling food going from my throat and down my windipe, stopping just at the breastbone, it's not painful but it is quite uncomfortable purely as I am so aware of it.
Sometimes it feels a bit sluggish depending on what I'm eating but then it probably always has been that way and I've never noticed.
Can anyone help?

Hmmm, I'm going to start feeling it now I've read that :)
It's just hyper-sensitivity to bodily functions no doubt.
Although it does get more obvious if you've eaten something very hot and slightly burned your esophagus.

Sorry  and sorry to anyone who reads this and then suffers the same.
Thanks Mark :), I needed someone to tell me I was probably being hyper sensitive, hopefully I will subconsciously stop noticing it now.

I was only kidding, but when I have something to eat, I will check the sensation, but I'm sure everyone feels it but just ignores it.
It's not abnormal, by the way, with Health Anxiety to obsess or fixate on certain bodily sensations and functions.
I'm sure most people concentrate on the taste of food, not what happens when it leaves their mouth, but your concern is understandable because you're "body scanning".
