No, it isn't the right way to do it as quetiapine has a short 6-7 hour half-life so taking it that way can set up a yo-yo effect which can become very disturbing.

You will probably have relatively few issues dropping back to 25mg/day for a week or two and then quitting. Note: XR tablets should not be cut, or crushed.

Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) may help with rebound insomnia, but not with withdrawal effects triggered by the loss of activity on other receptors. Check that the Benadryl you has diphenhydramine as the active ingredient as some formulations contain non sedating antihistamines.

My Q ain't XR so I cut a pill in half last night. With 37.5 slept as if it was 75
One weird gig maybe you's can explain.
I got these 100mg pills leftover from 18 month ago. An injun generic brand different from the 25mg pills what is US Seroquel.
A month ago split into 4 quarter. First two quarters knocked me out on successive nites. 3rd quarter gave me the mother of all restless legs, had to do a loada calf raises to get rid of it.
I got them restless legs when I was taking 200/300 but not since then. Weird. Doc says they is just common side effects.
Don't wanna trash them pills if that happens again.
What's your read on this one?

just wanted to add that your stuff on the virus is excellente. That's exactly what folk ought to be readin on MH forums.
The other forums I on have all but one closed down all discussions on virus coz it don't do any folk no good. I guess same happened here but took the bosses a while, I said she's before it weren't appropriate for MH forum coz it only freaks folk out.
Hope your fine and dandy and I guess in your part of Oz it ain't such a problem.

I'm excellent, thanks for asking. Hope you are too. I'm having a great time. All the tourists have scampered back to their homes leaving the trout streams to the locals. I've only seen 2 others fishing in the last few weeks. Unfortunately, the fish are being less than cooperative, but I come across just enough stupid ones to keep me interested and the larder stocked.
Both the federal and state government have fortunately been on the front foot both in terms of managing the virus and economy, much to my surprise, especially on the latter. Until Sunday before last we were looking at declining numbers of people infected in Tasmania with no community transmission, but a monumental error elsewhere has changed that. Still, at this stage the danger is minimal which is fortunate as my prognosis wouldn't be great if I became infected. I've treated myself to a bigger TV and new laptop and am hunkering down until either there's a vaccine, or I'm the last one standing. :D

Beats me, Charlie. My initial thought was that maybe the quetiapine isn't evenly distributed throughout the tablet, but that's unlikely to be the case with 3 of 4 quarters. Are you sure they are 100mg tablets? Magnesium supplements may help with restless legs.

I think you'd right about the Q not being evenly distributed. I as usual never explained it properly.
The first two quarters worked real good. The third quarter only was a bust. I checked again and the pill said 100 mg.
Any roads that's good you'd said what you did. It won't be the case with every pill. I've heard of other folk complain about a generic being 'different' from a brand but never really believed it till now.

My eyes ain't the best so I done a double check of them old pills and all I can say is gobsmacked. 300gm! That means I was taking 900mgs before, not 300gms. That explain everything. No wonder I was getting such excruciatin leg cramps. I knows I dumb at the best of times but what the hell. Unbelievable.

That's 100mg above the recommended maximum dose. I'm surprised you were able to wake long enough to take it.

Actually it was opposite, I weren't sleeping well on the large dose cozza them leg pains
I remember the doc saying that Q is more sedating on low dosage than big one. Not sure how true is that

My dad is depressed, Ian. The park service has closed down the access roads to the local mountains so he can’t go fishing. They are afraid too many people will gather there over the holiday weekend. You’ll have to catch one for him.

It is true. All the antihistamines - clozapine, hydroxyzine, mirtazapine, quetiapine, trazodone - become less sedating as the dose increases, however, 900mg is a very large dose.

I'm about to feel his pain. Went up into the mountains this morning to find the rivers up by quite a bit from rain earlier in the week, couldn't safely get into some of my favourite spots, and the forecast for tomorrow and Sunday is for an Antarctic blast with lots of rain which might just about end the season this far south - where's :curse: global warming when you need it?! :winks: So will have to switch from trout and salmon to estuary flathead. Good eating, but boring fishing. :sad:
The drop in fishing pressure at this time might set up a great season for your dad later on. Fingers crossed! :)

Yeah, my dad likes to hike into secluded spots and fish. All the rain we’ve been getting will definitely help the fish later on.
when is Tasmania’s rainy season? Is it also Winter? Ours is usually December/January, but global warming has pushed it back to March/April this year lol

It did, thank you, P. :) We’re now just waiting for the house quarantine period to be over with so it can be cleaned, and the will and final wishes be seen too. My uncle and aunt are doing well also—mild cases.

Good news about your Aunt and Uncle and also that the funeral brought you some comfort. Bereavement is ghastly when things are "normal" but things must be so much worse when you have a pandemic to contend with too..Keep on making those plans for the Summer when you can commemorate his life as you would wish.

In this part it's between January 1 and December 31st, even more so on the west coast where instead of having the usual 2 heads the native Taswegians have gills. :ohmy: OTOH, much of the east coast has been in drought for years. It is supposed to be June, July, August, but there has also been a shift here. In fact winters generally are warmer than they used to be and not that much different from autumn/fall and spring, especially on the east coast. Partly that is just general warming, but there is a current which flows down the length of the east coast of the mainland from the tropical north and now continues further down the island's east coast warming the ocean (and killing the kelp forests :weep:). But it's not all bad news with tasty northern fish now becoming endemic. The NE coast is now beginning to rival Queensland as a trophy sailfish mecca.

Interesting. We have the same type of problems you’re seeing as well. Our ocean is very cold, but the warmer currents reach farther north to us every year. We’re seeing fish and other sea life now that used to be rare here. But it also caused an outbreak of sea lion sickness about a year and a half ago, and they’re still recovering.
