Re: Terrified of colonoscopy
I get bleeding and it is all down to piles.
I have colonoscopies every 2 years and have them without any sedation or pain relief.
Maybe last time they didn't give you enough sedation so ask for some more this time.
You know you have to have it so I am afraid you are just going to have to grin and bear it so to speak.
Good luck.
Re: Terrified of colonoscopy
Thanks Nicola,
How is it that you still need one even though they say piles?. i Guess to be safe side? Are they internal piles?Do you not get the horrific pain as it goes around corners? Childbirth was better! My GP didn't see any inside though guess could still be further up. I had been given aspirin and had eaten pop corn which I normally would not do. I did not have sedation as it just stops you remembering the pain, still have to go through it.

Re: Terrified of colonoscopy
Oh sorry I meant the bleeding comes from piles. Yes mine are internal.
I have Crohn's disease/Colitis and diverticular but they say the bleeding is not from that.
I do get pain but I have a high pain threshold when it comes to things like that for some reason and I watch it on the screen. Yes it is not pleasant but something I can tolerate well.
You can use gas and air as well if you want to.
Re: Terrified of colonoscopy
Hi thanks for that, the hospital I went to said they do not give gas and air, that's why I never got it last time, seems barbaric to me so going to ask to go back to local NHS hospital, this was a spire one. I was screaming in agony last time!
Thanks again

Re: Terrified of colonoscopy
Maybe they have it now as it is a long time since you went and no idea why they wouldn't have it - how odd!
But yeah if not then go back to NHS
Re: Terrified of colonoscopy
he actually said so last night at the appointment-was shocked!
Re: Terrified of colonoscopy
Yeah doesn't sound right to me - maybe go back on NHS then.
