What happens during a neurologist consultation?

Really depends on the symptoms and the neurologist. I have seen two and they where completely different in their approach to my condition. One made me do physical things, the other didn't.

What I will say is write a list of symptoms (not exhaustive) and questions you want to ask no matter how stupid or scared you might feel.
