Brain tumour

I saw my GP monday because ive had a headache thats just around the crown area of my head, my right eye is flickering and sometimes my cheek, my right temple is abit numb to touch and the bone at the side of my right eye feels bruised to touch.

The GP did my bp, said it was fine, checked my ears and did a check of my eyes. Said I had nothing to worry about but here I am still with a slight headache and worrying about it. I know I should trust him and a friend of mine said the symptoms I have are not those of a brain tumour.

My auntie had a brain tumour so im very frightened about them.

Should I be relaxed about this now and get on with things? I also had a full blood count done 8 weeks ago and all was normal.:blush:

If your headache is improving and symptoms are abating, then you're likely to see self-resolution of the condition.

If, however, you are experiencing increasing headache, problems with your vision and increased sensitivity of your scalp, then I'd be concerned that a condition known as Temporal Arteritis may need to be ruled out, most particularly if you are over the age of 50. It is quite rare prior to that age.

Indeed, these symptoms are not associated with a brain tumor. Remember that pain is typically the last symptom of such tumors and only arises because of limited space in the brain cavity that is under compression by the tumor process. A wide range of symptoms occur far prior to detection of pain. You'll be fine in that regard.

Again, if symptoms are worsening or you detect changes in your vision then I'd have your primary care doctor or neurology specialist have another look.

I have had a sore scalp since the weekend, its sore to touch and when I brush and thats at the crown of my head.

Gosh I am so worried now and I don't even know what that temporal arteritis is.

Okay, well let's not let my comments send you running just yet. As I've stated time and again, it's critical not to take any portion of what I've stated to try and make a direct comparison. I listed many factors in my response to you, not just one and you must be careful to always be all-inclusive when reading about or receiving information of this nature.

Once again, if your headache is improving or has dissipated and you are not experiencing an increase in symptoms such as changes in vision, etc., then you're likely going to continue improvement until resolved. If the above collection of symptoms is present, then my suggestion is to return to your doctor.

Sensitive scalp in the absence of the other features is not the same as the aggregate of the symptoms.

My headache is just at the crown and ive got sore patch there on the scalp, tender/numb right temple, floaters infront of eyes but nothing else, dr checked my eyes with a light on monday and said it was fine, not to worry.

I am only 27 and I have regular eye tests and check ups plus I had a full blood count in February and that was ok,w ould this of picked anything bad up?

Okay, to be explicit here the comment was whether the headache and other symptoms are either getting better or worse. Are your symptoms getting better, worse or remaining the same?

Floaters are more often a non-pathological sign and commonly are due to a small space between the retina and viscous fluid which helps maintain the shape of the eye. If the floaters have been present prior to your symptoms, then it is non-relevant, but if they appeared in conjunction with your other symptoms, then conversely it is indeed of relevance. It would also be relevant if you have a history of migraine headaches.

My headache is alot better today.

The floaters hav always been there but ive noticed they are worse in the last week or 2.
