Change Phobia? Particularly jobs/permanent ones

Anybody have something like this?

Basically if there is a big life change possible I end up in bits, negative thoughts roll in and all the panic attack symptoms kick in.

Example 1 - saw a lovely house in country - wanted to buy it on day 1 - by day 5 it was not happening via a nice series of panic attacks.
Example 2 - job changes - have good opportunities but too scared to even look at them in case I have to go ahead with it. Panic attacks, anxiety, low self-esteem and depression.

When I start thinking about the change initially (while its a fantasy and safe) I can be all excited and positive. Then when it starts getting closer I start looking for every possible thing that can go wrong with the anxiety.

This ring a bell and did anyone get through something similar?

I think this is probably very common. I get it a bit - although health anxiety is my mani demon. Have you had any help with it in the past?
So are you still looking for a house? Exciting! (As well as scary)

No but I have a job interview next week. Have myself stressed out to the max trying to decide whether I can move jobs or not. Why can some people view change as exciting whilst some view it as terrifying!!

I know - it’s really shite. I think at least part of what you are feeling is totally normal. Why not just cut the process into bite sized chunks. Just focus on the interview, THEN worry about whether you can face changing jobs?
What is the job? Is it much different to the one you are doing now?

Its similar - software engineering - but private sector so in my stupid head its much more pressured, I'll be working ridiculous hours and never see my family and be constantly stressed. Another way of looking at it is that it could be exciting and that there could be more opportunities to learn new things. Unfortunately even as I say that the worries come back in. I know I'll end up staying put - anything for an easy life probably.

I've worked in both the public and private sectors, and despite my expectations, the private sector was always way more relaxed.
