Stopped Paroxetine 6 weeks ago - need reassurance

I was taking Paroxetine for 5 months and, as it wasn't working, I tapered down from 40mg/day to zero over a period of one month and have now been off it for 6 weeks. Psych told me the withdrawal effects would last from 1 to 3 weeks and gave no instructions on how slowly to taper down.

I've had diarrhea (now a bit better), severe headaches, dizziness and terror and am very worried that this is how it's going to be for the rest of my life. The only pluses so far are that my hands don't shake any more and there is some return of libido.

Was the psych's estimate of 1 to 3 weeks unrealistic and how long is this likely to last?

I've been off the stuff for a long time, but I made the mistake of not tapering and the withdrawal effects went on for ages. The brain zaps didn't last that long, luckily, but the mood swings and anger lasted at least a couple of months.

That said, I got there in the end and I'm sure you will, too.
