Missing A Dose

Hi everyone, I have been on Venlafaxine MR for 10 years. I was always ok on the 75mg until I had three personal family losses and a string of traumatic jobs in a row at work (paramedic. I love my job, but I'm still only human) and so last year I went up to 150mg. Since finishing therapy for PTSD, depression and anxiety, I have been unsuccessful in going back down to 75mg but that doesn't bother me. What's really bothering me is how quickly effects come on when I miss a dose. I try not to but sometimes I'll leave for a shift and forget them at home. I never noticed if I missed one 75mg dose, only if I missed a few in a row, but since going up I notice an upset stomach and nausea within 12 hours. Is it normal for these effects to happen this quickly? Even on the modified release version?

I'm working on building up a supply in my locker at work so I don't miss doses any more. Thanks for any insight xxx

Yes, withdrawal symptoms can happen that quickly, even sooner for some. Venlafaxine's half-life is only 5 hours +/- 2 hours so there's often not much left in the 'tank' at the end of 24 hours. Even when taken regularly people report doing better when they take it as a split dose presumably because blood plasma levels are then more stable.

Thank you panic_down_under. I was so surprised because when I was on the lower dose it didn't happen if I only missed one dose. Guess it makes sense as I'm on a higher dose now. I'm definitely going to try not to forget in the future. Thanks for putting my mind at rest.
