So, im allergic to cats.

Hey everyone! Been a while, but im here to ask about allergy medication. Iv hade a cat dropped into my lap and i dont have the heart to give it away. That being said i wana know what are the best meds i can take to keep my allergies undercontrol. Its not like my throat close up or anything like that, its just watery itchy eyes.

anti-histamines - but check you are allowed to take them first.

I would so love a cat but am also allergic. I take loratidine, but yes - check first. Lucky you [emoji846]

I normally take Benadryl when haveing a attck, but id reather not be knocked on my but form the drowsiness xD

Newer antihistamines such as *acrivastine (Semprex), *cetirizine (Zyrtec), fexofenadine (Allegra) and loratadine (Claritin) are usually much less sedating than Benadryl (diphenhydramine - in the US + Canada, not elsewhere) and other first generation antihistamines. Check with your pharmacist if you are taking any other medication, including herbal supplements.

* confusingly, the active ingredient in UK Benadryl formulations is either acrivastine or cetirizine :ohmy:

I take that for the itching I get from my BP med. It's one that has little interaction with anything and is very safe.
