Re: Positive Thoughts
Yesterday, I attended a benefit for my dear friend Ricky Wilkins who lost his battle with lung cancer on June 4th. Ricky was one of the finest musicians I've ever met. He plays on my CD and I've performed with him and his wife on many occasions the last 9 years. There's something very special as an artist to share that kind of creative bond where words need not be spoken to create something beautiful.
I saw that yesterday. Some of the finest musicians in the Valley came out in support. It was an emotional roller coaster but it was also a joyous celebration.
Ricky left a wife and two young daughters. One of the things I knew of him was his undying love and devotion for his family. He was a shining example of what a "Father" should be. This being Father's Day, this positive quote is for all the "Dads" out there....
"Being a father has been, without a doubt, my greatest source of achievement, pride and inspiration. Fatherhood has taught me about unconditional love, reinforced the importance of giving back and taught me how to be a better person."
