He got it from lack of social distancing, and has basically told the country not to social distance or wear masks...and when localities try ask for aid or try to impose their own mask or social distancing statutes, he doesn't back them up.

It does seem to be a trait in the libertarian Right to play down the seriousness of this disease (Trump, Bolsonaro, Johnson) - and which three countries have the highest numbers of deaths?

"Look - I'm in here 8 hours a day wearing a mask. Asthma or not, you can wear a mask for the three minutes you're in the store buying your beer! Unless you have a written note from your doctor that exempts you, put on a mask or leave".
There was applause from myself and the other customers :)

The keeper of the 7-11 should put one of these up, FMP:

No kidding PMousse!
The guy behind me said "Yeah, it (expletive expletive) but what are you gonna do? Just put on a mask!" And I happen to live in a RED red area too! We're talking jacked up trucks flying confederate flags red area so it was surprising and actually encouraging to see people come together and support the employee.
Here's the thing. COVID doesn't discriminate based on political views. This is a PITA but it is what it is and we just have to deal with it. We need to come together like we did after Pearl Harbor and 9/11. Be respectful of each other. In the past, we fought back with weapons of war. Against this enemy, the best weapon we have are masks right now. There's no effective therapy or a vaccine and realistically, based on past vaccine development, we're looking at next Spring or Summer at best. Look at Japan and a few of the other countries that have really gotten control of this. Masks were the common denominator as well as the other CDC guidelines.

Funny, I didn't realise that masks were planning on genocide and mechanically exterminating six million people by virtue of their faith? Rhetoric by such incredibly stupid people cheapens the horrors of the Nazi regime and those that resort to it need to be called out. The fact she is paid to turn out this bilge makes it worse.

What the hell!!
I personally believe that those who are equating having to wear masks with Nazism are well OTT, and like you said seriously need to be called out.
But sadly, that probably won't happen because it will be seen as a violation of 'free expression'!
Re: Covid-19 discussion thread
Apparently GP surgeries here are being flooded out with requests for exemptions from wearing a mask...Inevitable, I suppose.
JFDI?
Re: Covid-19 discussion thread
I suppose journos are struggling to write anything which gets added attention in CoronaWorld? I hope she gets a muted response to her offering but she'll no doubt be being congratulated by her bosses for a highly controversial article and plenty of divisive comments hence higher sales of the ST?

Yes, that's the sad thing that happened when this became political in the US. Since we have a shitty two-party system, where everyone gets put in a box, red or blue, left or right, if you're "red" or "right" then you feel pressured to be an anti-masker.
Until we stop this "us vs. them" thinking, and start looking at shades of purple (blue and red mixed together), I'm not sure we're going to make this work, either. Right now it's every state for itself.
As much as I like the government to keep their hands off my body, certain restrictions save lives: seat-belts in cars, helmets on motorcycles, vaccines for kids and pets, etc. Now it's masks when you're around others. As you said, FMP, we have no other recourse right now. Sometimes the needs of the many outweigh the wants of the few.

What, Suffolk? :roflmao:
Seriously, the US air bases round there led to some... odd behaviour from the locals.

We've ended up with a similar situation here in the UK. I blame that nice Mr. Bannon for that.
Go back just a couple of decades at elections and it wasn't unknown for PPCs to commiserate with the losers. You could have reasoned debates: they were opponents, not enemies which is what it has become now.
And it's absolutely hateful.
Re: Covid-19 discussion thread
Unfortunately, our party politics have been pretty hateful and heated since their formation in 1796, but it's only gotten worse as time has gone on.
