Hi. Full blood count would show anemia, infection etc. It would point to a problem not show what it is if that makes sense. Lfts would obviously show if there was any problems with liver function again pointing to a problem. Esr and crp which are inflammatory markers would need to be requested seperataly on the blood from as would thyroid function tft would probably be written. So not sure whats requested. Your previous esr was normal. Good luck
Hi Mike,
I suppose your bloods will have the main checks done-and thats the point ! Unless you saw what specific tests the doc requested its all speculative.I know in my case specific things were asked for. Anyway Im sure it will all be fine x
Just got my results back and everything was normal except my Liver Function tests, I saw the GP and she said it's nothing to worry about (easy for her to say) I am worried AGAIN GRRR. My ALT/SGPT level is 53 "HIGH" and my Serum Gamma GT level is 60 "HIGH" The doc asked if I drink a lot and I never drink never have done only at special occasions ie twice a year and only have between 2-3 drinks even then. Starting to think I have a liver disease as that's were the pain is according to the doctor :-(
mike,
if it makes you feel any better the same happenend with my hubby-He s mega fit (military man) drinks a glass of red occassionally , doesnt do drugs etc. . . he was told not to worry-he s fine-I think he had a retest done a few months later and that was o.k. Sometimes tests show transient changes that revert back to normal-if your doc not worried then dont you be x
Thanks hyg iv chilled out a bit now my ESR has gone from 5mm to 8mm since July trying to forget about that as it's still in the normal range.
*Forgot to mention the GP gave me some Amitriptyline to take everyday 10mg she said its for pain but after googling it they are an anti depressant! Wish theyd just be honest with me.

Hi Mike - how are you now? I have very similar symptoms but on the left. I've been on amitrytpline before, it really helped, so once all my tests are over (next few weeks), assuming they don't find anything (trying to be positive), I am going back on them - one of my consultants has already recommended it to help with severe dizziness (and of course, I think the dizziness must be related to a huge stomach tumour!!).
I also took Lansaprole for a while, no idea why just made my GP feel smug I think. I have come off them now in preparation for an endoscopy, and its made no difference. GPs just love dishing out the "proles" !! I hope the Amitryptline is helping, be interested to hear how you are getting on. Apart from your pain being on the right, we sound very similar!
Hi, im feeling a lot better thanks still got the ache but its not as bad. I didnt take the amitriptline as i dont want to be back on anti deppressants. The doc gave me some Mebeverine tablets 3 a day to take and they have really helped so im hoping the ache dissapears eventually.
I am on 20mg omeprazole once a day for a little hiatus hernia which they discovered after the 2nd time i had a endoscopy, but it took me years to get to that point all i kept getting told was it was IBS, in the end i said i wanted referring to a specialist and eventually as above i found the cure and it was omeprazole ..... when i remember to take it!! i do suffer when i dont but, i do sympathize with you and i hope you feel better very soon
I was put on amytriptyline for an irritable bladder years ago, and then again last year for irritable bowel. It's used in large doses for depression, but in the small dose you've been put on it's same as when I was on it - it's as a pain killer/muscle relaxant and stops sending pain triggers to your brain.
Years back I had a liver function test come back high and they said it was just a form viral hepatitis (hepatitis g or something odd like that) and when they ran tests a couple of months later it was back to normal. I can't look back to check now on your post whether you said you've had an abdominal ultrasound, if you have and this was fine that's reassuring.
