    "trembling hand" when holding glass

    Hi,

I have been suffering from this since 1990.

In 1990, I developed "Hand-trembling" each time, there were girls, eating together.( What I mean is, when I took a glass, it trembled)

In 1991, Even, now, with guys only, my hand trembled, each time I took a glass to drink.

In 1992, it worsened. Even my hands trembled when having meals with parents.

( This all are Hand trembling when I hold the glass to drink in front of people).

In 1993, I tried some meditation, by visualizing as I closed my eyes, I picked up a glass from the table, and thought all as if watching me.
( It stops trembling!! But it returned again whenever there are people.)

In 1994, I avoided all Dinner, going out with friends, not socialising, just eating meals alone.

Then parents brought me to Psychiatrist.

    So Xanax 1mg were given.

    It worked great!!

I just took half, put it under the tongue, then go for a meals with anyone.
There were no more hand trembling....

So I beeen on Xanax since 1994-2011..right now.

My concern is, many Psychiatrists are reluctant to give Xanax, instead they give antidepressants.

    My Psychiatrist is old now.
I am very worried, as all new and young Psychiatrists do not want to prescribe xanax.

    I just don't know.

( I tried antidepressants, most of them. didn't even help, but worsened).

I just don't know what to do if my psychiarist retires

XANAX is a Benzo and as you are aware is addictive .It isnt perscribed here either except for short term use ..Therapy for the problem should be given instead of drugs ,have you had any ? ..Did you read your replies on your other thread by the way ?... Sue x

Sorry to hear this David. If you've been taking Xanax all that time then you're probably addicted. Not sure if you take it every day?

Your doc won't stop it cold turkey. If anything he'll gradually reduce it or maintain you on your current dose.

I'm sure you'll be fine David.

    well, here in Sydney, my Psychiatrist adviced me, to take ;

Clonazepam 2mg daily, forever. As long as No escalation in dosage. Coz lot's of his patients, after a while, develop dependence and find 2mg is not effective, so it goes up from 2mg, to 4mg, to 6mg.

But as for me, I am settled down with 2mg daily.

With Xanax, I used it "as needed " basis. so I keep some in my pocket, in case, when I go up the escalator and panic afraid to fall down or trembling hand when holding glas and swallowing problem in Foodcourt, then quickly I use Xanax.

So Clonazepam, is sort of " Preventative med' and Xanax is sort of " Abortive meds"

And my psychiatry said, he's quite happy to prescribe it as long as I live.
